Experience has taught me to just do all the work myself lol. I don’t trust a single dealer anymore. Stevinson west in CO hit something and dented the crap out of my rear side panel and fender then tried to tell me it was like that when I brought it in even though they didn’t mark any damage when taking it in. They said that they watched the security cams and noticed it but wouldn’t show me anything. $440 repairs in PDR later and a new plastic fender liner... Unfortunately I took my dash cam sd card out that morning for some reason. If I end up on the recall list I’ll likely try to do it myself unless it’s extremely difficult.

So basically nothing happened today. I got an email saying they're looking into scheduling in in for a smoke test, but couldn't give me a date because the service writer wanted to meet with the techs first. The email was sent in the AM and as of now nothing.

I pretty sure i'm done with this dealer and need to make plans to get it in at another dealer. I can't imagine a tech on flat rate is going to do the utmost care in repair on a boomerang that's twice in the making. I think another dealer might be more objective in executing a proper repair at this point.

Went through the same with my 2018. All in all dealer had it 2 weeks, had me pick it up twice and I had to return the next morning, service was elevated to Toyota USA whatever that means, and I was told pump was pulled 3 times along with two other items replaced. Never would give me the final information on what was the issue but it has been fine for over a month now.

As of today still no answer as to when they want me to bring it back. I tried calling, but the service manager only works 7-4. They tried passing me to a service writer, but they had no answers.

I called another dealer and they said they'd look at it, but it wouldn't fall under warranty work if they found broken / hacked parts. That's totally understandable on their end.

Call corporate Toyota and have your vin #. They will get the regional Toyota rep involved.

I'm going to give them a ring in the morning. I have a feeling i'm being brushed off. The crappy part is they reset the light on Saturday and it's taken nearly a tank of fuel for this light to return each time.

Have you ever seen a driveshaft fall off after the fuel pump recall being done? I had mine come off in December because the dealership tech who took the long range tank off on my truck for the fuel pump replacement didnt tighten the middle bracket bolts and it came off on my drive home from work. Luther Brookdale Toyota, stay away from that place!

Yeap, they charged me $535 to do the recall as well because I dont have a standard tank. Didnt get any apologies from them and no refunds. I submitted a complaint to Toyota to let them know about service at that dealership.

The truck was dropped off at the servicing dealer this evening. The check engine light came back on despite it being cleared at the last visit. I guess we'll see what they come up with.

First time, I wouldn’t be upset. Second time, I would be mildly annoyed. Third time, I would be full Karen.

It’s not even about the money or the fact that it’s completely inconvenient, but when my time is wasted, multiple times, I get pretty pissed because time is the one thing that you can’t get back. And I would rather be doing ANYTHING else but waiting at a dealership

I'm having the recall done tomorrow by a 'less than stellar' dealership. Thanks for the confidence boost, Itchy!

It's a real shame, because i've had nothing but good experiences with this dealer up till having this recall done. My fear is at this point is that i'll get it back and end up with a check engine light again in a few weeks. At that point I might have to consider going the lemon route and i'd lose my ass because of some of the parts i've put on this truck. I've installed a TRD skid plate, TRD intake, TRD exhaust. BFG K/Os in stock size, Focal speakers and some other odds and ends.

Good luck. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll fix it this time. It's probably just old gas because you never drive it.

    Before you go ballistic......

Don't send an email..... send a registered letter with copies to Toyota Corp, a your lawyer and the dealership GM. List the "copy to" recipients in the letter by name, position.

Detail the services performed, the symptoms and the RECALL. Detail the dates and times for all the service with copies of the records.

State you want another mechanic to do the work, including replacing hoses and evap can at no cost to you.

Be firm, be professional, be polite.

Going Karen could get you removed and barred from the dealer plus you'll be a laughing stock for the world and you won't get resolution.
