So.....I leased. Yes I leased. I knew it was a bad decision from the start, but I have dealt with too many depreciating German sports cars to jump in with two feet and not know if I would even like it.

This is my first truck. Never thought I would own a truck, never in a million years would I have imagined myself buying a silver one. Well, I have both. Zero complaints. Happy with my decision and won’t ever look back. And I LOVE how classy the silver looks

(yes, you are not reading incorrectly....it’s a turd-gen)

Anyway, got the bank loan to purchase it. I owe $26k and the truck is worth $32k......I bought it for $31k......

Go Toyota! I truly don’t see this truck ever being sold. I know this truck gets shat on a lot, but I really do enjoy it, and as you can see, I drive a good amount.

Sorry, useless post really, but very happy

Mine depreciated $500 after 4 years and 58k miles. Tacoma can be a damn good buy.

Trucks are very hot sells right now. Everybody wants one. Gas is cheap. Wait til gas goes up and your results will vary.

I brought my truck at retail price and it was only $450 above average wholesale. Not a bad deal considering most other cars(other than jeeps) retail for 2-3k+ above wholesale. A lot of this has been effected by the factories not being able to make new cars. Demand shot up this past summer and they’re just starting to get back to full capacity, but then the suppliers are having issues keeping up with demand so it’s a sh*t show for all.

    Awesome!

I love my tacoma as well. 3rd gen is a fantastic truck, its the best tacoma out there. Some people are just jelaous, or cant afford one.

Its quick, good on gas, reliable, looks amazing and has great resale value, what else can you ask for?

Until you caved the fucking roof in. Probably for good reason, because it had the little girlyman motor in it :brianr:

I am impressed to see the cost of ownership of these things really hang in there with the 5th gen 4runners.

But, it also makes me sick because a lot of older 2nd gen tacomas took a massive drop in value in 2016 when the Turd gens started rolling off of lots :pout:

i was actually looking at second gens (I actually prefer the look), but it was just a couple grand less than a new one. So I went new. 2nd gen still always gets a look from me!! Love them!!

Nice truck! And yeah definitely love mine too. I've had 2 Hondas and 1 BMW before I bought my Tacoma. The Tacoma is easily my favorite vehicle I've owned, keeping this one forever since its almost paid off. Then I'll probably buy a beater camry or civic as a daily driver.

With a new Tacoma you can either lease or buy. You cannot go wrong.

With most new German cars, lease only.

Traded a 2017 F250 for a 2020 TRD OR 4x4. Drove the F250 for 3.5 years and lost only $5K vs what I paid new. Dealer currently has it listed for the exact amount I paid for it.....used truck market is nuts, right now, and I decided to take advantage. Getting a nearly new (8K miles) Taco plus a high 5 figure check was too good to pass-up (the SD was paid-off). I liked the SD but in 3.5 years I never had real occasion to need it. I liked the ride height and the room but it was a PITA to park.

When I started shopping I was going to buy a used one thinking I would save a decent chunk of change. Nope. At most I would have saved ay most about 5k. 8k if I went down to gen 2 (unless of course a lot of miles). Screw that, new ones sell for almost the same price, bought a brand new one.

Tacos hold their value well on a normal day, add in the mess that is the world right now, tacos not produced at the numbers US brands are while being more in demand, ya its insanely worth it to buy a new one right now.

I hade a similar experience in 2017. Dealer wanted only 5-6 grand less for a few second gens, all with 50,000 or more on the clock. I felt like, while reliable, it wouldn’t be worth spending that much money on something someone else may or may not have maintained properly. Walked across the lot and test drove a 3rd gen and that’s all she wrote.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
My last Tacoma was a 2016 SR5 (my 12th Toyota truck) .... had it for 3 years-30,000 and basically broke even on the price ... only paid for gas and insurance.

Sold it in 2019 in average truck market too.

Yeah don't come to Pa to fill up. Highest in state gas taxes... Lowest grade is $2.75/gal in my area.
