Been running LEDs in my 2018 for 2 years now without any issues. Still a sharp cutoff, no cars flashing me and much noticeably brighter than stock despite what anyone says. Get the $80 Hikari Ultras from Amazon and enjoy the upgrade!

Lots of garbage mis-information in this thread, just like so many others, hence the mega-headlight-thread to evaluate everything with science. LEDs reduce distance projection and increase foreground light which makes people feel like they can see better, even though the light does not project as far. (This is bad). A simple Philips H9 bulb swap will project father than any replacement LED, with higher intensity output. But if you are really set on LED than Hikari Ultras or Morimoto 2stroke 3.0s are the way to go, with all the comparison data covers in the thread. Any other LED is likely lower performing than stock, just with more foreground light which misleads those that don't understand what to watch for.

My DDs project further than the stock bulbs. In my area dark roads, the LEDs help me see further as with the stock bulbs could not light up things I couldn't see. They are better!

    These are VLEDS H11 MICRO.
As mds08 said, I don't care what anyone says, what tests they put in front of my face. My eyes tell me I can see better....much better. The stock halogens are no comparison. Key is buying quality LEDs.
Tell me stocks are better than these. ..AND no blinding. None. I live in high tourist area where there are a LOT of cops. On dark roads, it's amazing how much light is distributed on the road and on wet roads it is so much better. I had to change out the halogens in my work Tacoma.
    These are just low beams.

Very true, looks like my DDs. Why can someone believe this, I mean damn people look at this, looks way better than my stock bulbs. Proof right here in the pic. What brand are you running? Seeing is believing!

For maximum brightness that no headlights can replicate, get a 40” roof rack lightbar only used responsibly like high beams.

It’s always fun to hear the naysayers knock proven scientific facts because they “think” that their untrained eyes are the definitive source for this information, when in fact it’s simply the color of the led light that is playing tricks on them & their perception, making them believe that it is indeed better, when in reality it’s not.

How else are you supposed to fight back those already with LEDs in halogen housings?? :duel:

At the end of the day, perception is reality. There's a lot more factors than sheer lux readings, in my opinion. Yellow light doesn't do me that good in a yellow/green environment. There's also something to be said for spectrum of light and one's own visual perception in a given environment. My halogens work much better in my current environment (snowy) than they do in my summer one considering the spectrum of light and the amount of reflection. Meanwhile, my LEDs work far better in my summer environment and especially in the rain.

Perception is reality for schizophrenics too, but that doesn’t make what they see or think real. And the main environment in which headlights are used is at night. In the dark. Black. No yellow or green or blue or purple or orange. All data suggests that a halogen bulb in a halogen projector is better for distance projection at night than any current led that you can substitute in its place. That is a fact that has been proven by scientific testing regardless of what you may think about it. Try attempting to disprove those facts & we can revisit this when you’re done. But until then, like the schizophrenic, believe what you want. I’m just the guy that’ll stick to the facts until proven otherwise.

When did schizophrenia become relavent, for one? For two, night is dark, water is wet. Colors do, in fact, exist at night. It doesn't matter how bright my light is when it is blending into the surrounding environment I'm driving in and I can't see it (which has been my whole point). Red is often used in certain applications because it doesn't affect night vision as much. But you can't see blood with it (when that's relavent). I often find the bodies of deer absorbing my halogen light far more than my LED and so I see them much later. It's about more than just lux readings, my friend.

You keep saying it, but where is the raw data proving you correct? Show me & we’ll compare it to what’s already been proven. I’ll wait.

It’s like arguing over Xbox vs PlayStation graphics, they look the damn same to most people! Or warm vs cool TV settings. It’s yellow vs white light, who cares if halogen projects a couple feet further down the road if leds shine brighter directly in front of you. It’s all personal preference like many other vehicle components.

I ended up with the Alla lighting LED's. They are so bright i was shocked.. especially coming off the oem trash it came with.

My personal preference is to use the data provided by a lighting expert, because I, just like you & @RedWings44 , don’t know shit about lighting compared to a lighting expert. Thanks.

And you're welcome to use whatever data works for you. Just because the Tacoma is rated for 24 highway, doesn't mean it'll get 24 highway in the real world. Like I said, you're welcome to use whatever data works for you. I drive over 25k miles a year, much of it in the dark. I'll keep using what works for me in my environment. My job also heavily relies on lighting since I'm on night shift much of the year p. As I said, there's a lot more to it than simple lux readings. It's all irrelevant if my lighting blends into my environment and I can't see what I need to see. There's a reason many things are switching over to LED technology apart from just energy usage (I'll ignore the dedicated LED housing argument because I think we can all agree there). It is because, when done right (keywords) the LED is superior in most situations. There's a lot to be said about the spectrum of light emitted.

Agreed!!! Maybe the test are outdated since the LEDs are more up to date now. We know it's a test and some date, but who's to say it's correct. I still say if I see a difference, see further and wider and if it works better for me, I could care less about data and test and more inclined to listen to people's reviews who actually use the product. However I do thank the person who did the test, but that's just it. I'm not switching back to halogen, not going with HIDs, not changing hy headlight housings and not going to give a damn what some say.
