Yeah, with two people leaving for better paying jobs though, I need to find a way to get a raise out of this.

    Yeah..
Gonna try and talk to my manager about it. See if I can use my losing the shift diff and people leaving for higher pay as leverage to get a bump up.

Side work, but not my main job. (Or so I will continue to lie to myself in order to justify it.)

Nah as much as I would like to do CAD and 3D modeling/rendering I'm mainly getting it for Virtual Reality games and traditional pancake gaming.

Which frankly I don't even do too much of that anymore anyways but I really like having a *beast* of a PC and my GPU is showing its age, not putting out the texture resolution and frames I want to see.

That's pretty typical, in a "balanced" build to avoid bottle necking your GPU setup should be roughly 1/3 - 1/2 the cost of the rest of the components in the build.

Like a rifle, your optic should be 1/4 - 1/3 the cost of the rifle.

Or so the tribal knowledge propagates.

I got selected for mandatory arc flash training this Thursday and Friday... 8 am to 4 pm. My normal shift is 3pm to 3 am. Gonna lose a couple hours leaving early Wednesday night to get enough sleep for Thursday. Sadly when the big boss says jump, you don't bother asking how high, you just do the best you can.

I could teach you; but I'd have to charge!

    :bananadead:

Nah the 3090 Graphics card is effectively a work station productivity level card thinly being marketed as ultra enthusiast grade gaming card.

I really don't need one. I just want one for playing hard to run games at really pretty settings.

CAD is Computer Assisted Drafting, (like engineering) and 3D modeling is basically like making small movies and game assets (figured and items etc)

    OOF.

    Arc flash training...

We have to do that annually as part of LOTO and boy let me tell you some of those vids will put the fear of Jesus in you in regards to them dang ol blood thirsty angry copper pixies.

We deal with 480 triple phase A/C. Fortunately not me personally but apparently I need to know about the gear and the dangers even if I never open a cabinet beyond the kind the K cups live in.

I work as a millwright and I'm constantly having to go in 480 panels to replace fuses and reset overload switches. 9 times out of 10 they're not energized, but very very rarely we'll have to have the box live while tinkering to confirm or evaluate something. Now I'm not an electrician, and I have a very healthy respect for those angry pixies. I let those more experienced than me do that live work and I stand welllll back and try to learn.
