All done right at 14 hours. Lost over an hour trying to take the crank bolt out. Couldnt do the starter bump because I have a push button start. It would over crank unlike a normal key. My boy came in and saved the day with is M18 impact. Zipped it right off. The pulley chain strap wouldn’t of worked as there’s no room around the pulley. My butt dyno says it definitely has more power but Im taking it easy for now. BTW where exactly is that restrictor? I’ve seen other pics and mines doesn't appear to have it.

Nice job! By the way, you can still bump the starter with the push to start. I have a push to start and that’s how I got mine off after trying 3 different impact wrenches. Looks like I should pick up a M18, didn’t know it was that strong.

it is in the bottom of your bypass valve. The thing with the yellow sticker on the drivers side of the unit. Pull the hose off the bottom and use a pair of pliers to gently wiggle and twist it out.

Sometimes they fall into the hose itself too. Look in there also.

So how many deviations from the instructions did you find besides step 45 with the upper manifold removal bolts?

waiting for warm weather to come - have a garage but still too cold to work in, and would rather work in natural light as much as possible. Gathering maintenance items to do also - serpentine belt, plugs, oil change, coolant change, have to move additional trans cooler added to oem tow cooler,.... No hurry but once we get a forecast week of plus 50's I get moving on it.

Lesson learned I really need a better compressor. Didnt have enough air for my impact and to vacuum fill my coolant. I say the vacuum coolant filler is a must have because before you fill you’ll have to check the system if it holds vacuum. If it holds theres no leaks. One gallon for the truck and .75 gallon for the supercharger.

Definitely get a new big bottle of blue locktite the one they give you is a joke.
This a DIY installation with some basic knowledge and some specialty tools. Have a buddy, patience and some beer and you’ll be good. Thumbs up to the Magnuson team for the excellent write up with color photos for every step.

The electric impacts are so much better than the air ones. I love my dewalt max XR. this was not the case 5-10 years ago.

I ignored the vacuum testing step.
I just ran the system with caps off and squeezed the hoses to make sure all air escaped for a minute or two. Then let the system pressurize, checked for leaks and drove on!

This step is easy on a Tacoma. Now a 1991 MR2 is another story. So many air bleeds lol.

The restrictor is crap. Remove it and forget about it.

If it's not there then it's a QC issue in which they did you a favor by not having it anyway.

If you remove the hose which goes over it, it's possible the restrictor came out and is lodged inside the hose. Remove it and inspect just to make sure.

Not familiar with the "vacuum fill" but am with the Vacuum check process for leaks. ??? I figured I'd use the same device as used to test the radiator pressure check. Have plenty capacity with my compressor. Got extra blue loctite and two jugs of coolant. Learn something new everyday. Shitty weather just give me more time to prep.

Its the same process but in reverse. With the vacuum filling tool you’re doing two things at once. You create the vacuum and if it holds you’re good. Have your filler hose in a new jug of coolant and release the valve to suck in the new coolant. With the pressure tester you can only check if you have leaks. Hope that helps. BTW is was 45 degrees in my shop when I was installing the SC. Beanie and hoody and you’re good.

I just filled my coolant up and let it run with the cap off and then topped it up a couple times as the air worked it's way out.... From a practical perspective I don't think you need to vacuum bleed

I got one of each of the pulleys and an extra drive belt to keep behind the rear seats along with my serpentine belt tool.

Just in case! It’s a pain to find an auto parts store when you need one. CD6DE537-842F-4E9F-8735-F6C80611A7C2.jpg

thats a good idea. Where did you get it from?
Its also a good idea to have an extra set of brake light bulbs. Saw on another post that we might not be able to start our trucks if one went out.
