I'm still a bit sore about that one lol. Why people would scalp basically a childs toy right before Christmas is beyond me.

All sarcasm aside that's how I got my 3090. I knew someones employee email at Memory Express and I've bought a lot through him. He tipped me a message as soon as 3090 backorders were open and which cards would likely be available first and not have a huge backorder on them. All I had to do was call in and seal the deal.

    Yeah.
So, Best Buy has been good to me so far. Got a 5800X, now a PS5, now looking for a 5600X. Unfortunately video cards look to be a bigger challenge . . . just popped an old 970 in for now so my daughter can start moving things around. She's got her old PC jacked up pretty good -- she's a game modder and performance tweaker with trust issues and messes with too much stuff she doesn't understand.

Best Buy has pissed me off with the regional availability, but before they switched that was how I got my first couple of cards. Best system in my opinion (out of all the major retailers).

The 5600X is really coming in now. I know a brick and mortar that saw a thousand in the last week or so, almost totally caught up on their preorders.

    Yeah.
Good! Tired of getting NewEgg notifications, only to find that resellers have bought everything and reposted for an additional $200 or so. They got hacked and my info stolen, so the only way I can buy from them now is by calling them anyway. Not very convenient, so I typically look elsewhere.

I avoid Newegg when I can. I buy 90% of my stuff from a chain store that still has a curbside presence. Lots of people are mad at them because they've refused to post stock online and do everything in store but I respect them for that.

My quarantine project was a new media server and closet organizer w/rack system to replace my old server. I'm in the process of moving all my data over now. I'll be selling the previous rig if anyone is interested in a server with a 14 HDD capacity and an unRAID pro license.

So I’m curious, which one did you go with? I have the original Rift and just got a Quest 2 with the link cable for Christmas. Overall I think I prefer the versatility of the Quest 2.

I ended up not going through with it mostly due to some order issues and giving up at the end. I'm interested to see where this goes. I hope they keep options open for us PC users that have the processing power but just need a VR device.

Me too, I haven’t really looked into it, but it has me wondering now, when I’m connected to the PC with quest 2 via link cable, I wonder if the PC vid card is doing the bulk of the video processing or is it the headset itself. Eh, maybe I’ll google that later.
