I don't think you can go wrong with a Yamaha TW200 dual sport. Bike is still being made with a carburetor. Can go about 65. Fat rear tire. It's pretty much a step above a moped. Thing hasn't changed since 1987 except for replacing the front drum brake with a disk in 2001 lol. I may get one of these.

It wouldn't surprise me. As a kid, I was always out on trails on a dirt bike. Some of them were wide enough for a vehicle and there were some deep gullies and abandoned quarries that had plenty of old cars rusting away in them. That seemed to be what people did around there, when the car died, just put it in the woods and let nature reclaim it.

Well, this I have never specifically had a conversation with my insurance agent about, as I have with the topic of driving on the ice. However my guess (if interested and fwiw) is that since class VI roads are technically public rights of way, you are covered. The whole key is that insurance has no choice but to cover you if you are in a place you are allowed to drive. Like for instance, the parking lot of a Mall or something. It's not a road at all, but since it is a public right of way they can't deny you coverage there.

Same here. I wish the culture that went with Harley's isn't what it is. I enjoy the bike a lot but you won't find me cosplaying Sons of Anarchy.

I got a Dyna because at 6'3" the Sportsters felt too cramped and I'm not a fan of forward controls. The mids keep my feet relatively under me, this spring the plan is to get a seat that kicks me back a couple inches to help with leg room.

I'd have to think this would be the logic applied. It's a public right of way, just not paved. If you were on a National Forest Service Road and had an accident it would be covered. I'd think a Class IV or Class VI in VT Would be the same.

I'm actually left handed  Nice try
It hasn't broken down on me yet :notsure: Then again, I only have 400 miles on it.

If you drive the SxS fast enough, you can skim across open water. I think that was his plan!
YouTube is the way. It seems simple enough, though the mirrors are kind of a complex curve. Lots of heat and patience!

I think that's why the Harley brand is struggling to stay relevant. Lots of greaseballs and mall Santa's in vacation mode with bad attitudes on those things.

The younger Harley ownership is quite nice though. I was amazed when I went to Laconia Harley to take their bike course, and eventually buy a bike there. The people are very nice and not the stereotypical grumpy intimidating type.

That's the plan! I'm going to do the mirror caps and attempt the rear bumper... Both are very far from flat which should be tons of fun for my first wrapping experience!

I may not be popular for saying this, but the Harley crowd seem a lot like what I've come to know the MA regions. If you walk in, as an outsider, you sort of get the cold shoulder, they don't know you and don't want to know you. Go in with someone who's 'in the club' or from there, the people are great and would give you the shirt off their back. I say that lovingly about MA, it's part of the charm and you can't take it personally, it's just the way some areas are.

    Well if you weren't 6'14 1/2" it wouldn't be a problem. :stirthepot:

I've ridden a couple of Harley's and haven't liked them much. The Sportster I rode felt cramped even to me, at 5'7 & 160-ish. And the Dyna I rode was more comfortable dimensionally, but I hated the vibration. Idling at a stoplight you could watch your hands bounce so much that it felt like they'd traveled 200 yards without the rest of you
The Softail that I rode felt much smoother, but was heavier than I really like in a bike. As an added problem it had forward controls and with my stumpy limbs I really had to stretch to reach the controls. Which was no fault of the bike, but definitely didn't add to my level of enjoyment!

My '99 Dyna Wide Glide was the biggest POS with wheels I've ever owned, and that says a lot. What a mistake that bike was, and not a cheap one.
