Thanks. I only have Windows XP machines that can be used exclusively for Techstream. I have 2 other windows 10 laptops, that we use for other stuff and was not sure if I should install Techstream on a computer running other software.

I have successfully used Techstream on a crappy win 10 Lenovo that mostly is used by my son to play among us. It's got lots of other crap on it and it sucks as a computer. But Techstream runs like a dream.

I am more concerned about potential viruses that may be on the Techstream software. I am sure the one @tonered has linked should be fine but I had a cheap china dongle with V12 on and older XP laptop and would never chance it on my personal Win10 laptop. I now have a Tactrix Openport 2.0 so i figured I would get the newer version Techstream.

Some folks have said that they got infected versions with the cheap cables.

The version that I have posted is definitely freaky for activating, but no one has reported anything more than warnings during the initial setup when a/v was not completely turned off.

I have it running on my personal machine. It is a low requirement program, so try your XP machine first. If it doesn't go, I would not worry about it running on you Win10 machine. Like I said, it is a weird install, but no actual problem down the road.

For the garage, I look for refurbished laptops. I've always been able to find a decent laptop for around $200. I use them until they're painfully slow and then get a "new" one. I actually like the refurbs because there's no crap on them. A garage laptop is a necessity anymore. It's another wrench or screwdriver. I only use them for car-stuff. My current laptop has three versions of manufacturer's proprietary software. Multiple factory service manuals, and software for my scan tool. There's quite a few places online that sell refurbs. Do a little Googling and you should be able to find one that fits your needs. You can always start at Fry's, which is where I got my last one.

Yup, no need for anything fancy, the software requirements are so low. Dell outlet is my go to for essentially new but sold as refurb or scratch and dent, full warranty included. I go for the education style laptops, they are mildly ruggedized and survive in a shop longer.

Thanks Guys! I am trying to get a used laptop with windows 10 on it just for this purpose. Good idea to have just a garage laptop with the manufacturers software and factory service manuals. My entire family owns primarily Toyota/Lexus vehicles, so should work well.

Seems like results vary for XP. I will just get a windows 10 laptop and install it.

Ran it today and it is saying I have to update to the new version to do anything (running 14.20.019). It takes me back to toyotas site to download the new one which requires a valid login. Anybody else having this problem?

Close the sit. Turn off wifi. It will tell you that you have 30 uses remaining. If you accidentally connect while on wifi, the countdown will reset.

Look on the left. Your current cal is 04b04. That’s the latest TSB for your model year.
