Car manufacturers HATE him for this ONE simple trick!!!!!

 

Oh you were asking about the things I could change in ProTools on the bimmer. Well I went through every option in all 25 computers that my model has. Well, there's pretty much nothing I cannot change about the way the car acts and behaves. Things like the Pulse width modulation for lighting as well as voltage for the pulses. I can even change stuff about trans shift behavior, what yaw and steering angle triggers stability control, how stability control intervenes. Anything and everything you could imagine I can change about the car. Just for shits and giggles I changed it so the frameless windows roll down a touch when you approach with the key so you don't have to wait for them to come down when you pull the door handle.

This setting made me laugh, and probably gave Barto a chub... factory settings to enable law enforcement lighting (cause these are police vehicles in Germany along with the 3 series)

I used an add-a-fuse with my AFR gauge a few years ago, piggybacked it off the instrument panel fuse. No issues

 

They're fine in the cab, in the underwood fuse box you're asking for trouble with corrosion

 

That's pretty impressive, be fun to be a fly on the wall watching bmw develop all that.


Can you enable turn signals?

 

Enable them? I can choose which lights on the car act as turn signals and whether or not they turn on. I turned off the fender ones cause they look goofy. I can go so far as to change the steering angle at which they cancel and how many blinks you get for flicking the stalk to pass or merge. Can change how fast they blink too I guess.

 

And you just ground out somewhere for negative or wut?

Yeah, the entire body of your truck is a negative, same with frame. Basically any metal that doesn't specifically say positive is a ground.

 

Is that where all this freezing whether is coming from? It’s been so windy and cold recently.

That's absolutely ridiculous you can change that much shit on the car. Is the software for that free? I wish I could even come close to having that many options using Techstream for the 4runner. I was happy being able to turn off DRL and set the locks to lock when shifting out of park and unlock when shifted to park.

The software for control is $75 and the cable was another $65 (it's an OBDII connector with a microprocessor to let it talk to the K/DCAN network in the car). The software is amazing, really its a database of what all the stuff in the ECUs can do and it guides you through the process of changing the values (which if you tried to do with a computer and hex editor, which is possible, would be super tough). The neat thing about the Bimmer's is the computers and modules are sorta plug n play, so you can add or remove modules and parts for what features you want or don't want the car to have, then within those modules you can edit all the parameters that make up their feature set and behavior.

 

That is really not a bad price for being able to adjust all those features and what not. Very cool stuff. I wish it was that easy with Toyota.

 

Yeah, it would be cool if most of the Toyota features weren't behind encryption, the base settings that Techstream can reach just barely scratch the surface of what you could otherwise control on them. Toyotas after 2000 have plenty of module integration, it's just all hidden behind encryption so no one has been able to analyze and map it for control.
