The proper torque value is recommended from the manufacture so you don’t over or under tighten the bolt.
I guess it’s up to the individual in this case weather or not to torque the skid mounting bolts to the recommended setting.

Does that torque value cover both the aluminum skid and the stock steel splash pan. In theory they might have different values. ;)

Yeah I have one as well. Someone on here sells them for aftermarket shifters. It saved me as I hated the way mine looked just zip tied at the bottom and AJT Design was zero help on how to get it to look right.

Tried to quickly pull one of the bed rails. Stripped the t-30 head on the screw. Does anyone know an effective way to remove a bed rail screw with stripped t-30 head?

My son is on a High School Mountain Bike team and we went to the Trek factory in WI a couple years back to take a basic maintenance course. They didn't let you install ANY fastener without torqueing it per the specs.....it was almost spooky how militant they were about torque specs. To the point of the little reflector that clamps to the seat post......and they meant it.

I built bikes for penn cycle for a few years, I always torqued everything. So many times we would have a bike come back because a pedal fell off and the kid got hurt, or the handle bars slipped and the kid broke a tooth. It was a mess when the new guys wouldnt torque things propper.
