So I'm DEFINITELY gonna be painting my TRD Sport wheels gunmetal over the xmas vacation from work. But I had the idea to do a red pinstripe in the little groove near the lip, i thought this might look good since I have some red accents (red TRD on center caps, TRD bedside decal, red TRD sticker on top of front windshield, red TRD on Wet Okoles). I used an old dented rim I have laying around to practice on and here is the prototype. I also photoshoped a pic of my truck with just gunmetal wheels, and one with gunmetal and a red lip (unfortunately the wheels dont have the TRD centercaps in the pic). Give me some input guys, I'm gonna do whatever I want either way, but I would still like some feedback :)

PROTOTYPE (ON A OLD SPARE RIM...I AM NOT USING THIS RIM ON THE TRUCK, OBVIOUSLY,LOL)

It's a great idea (the red stripe), but it's just something not worth looking at over time...just my two cents. Maybe if you threw a sick set of white walls on there you could rock it :p

I think it looks good, could look even better if you did some more with red on your truck.

It's a pretty cool idea, I like wheel lip finishes. The red is not my style but def. would stand out. If ya do it, paint the toyota logo on the center caps the same red I think that would make the whole deal look pretty cool.

sadly, I've only put Husky Liners in it thus far - tend to blow all my cash on my bikes and guitars.
Same ride i got.......think i'd like the stock silver finish wheels but with a blue accent stripe instead........was gonna get new wheels, but just ain't in the budget right now - got some damage to pay for first.......but I'm really diggin' your build, and I'm probably gonna mock some of your mods to mine........nice ride!!

yeah I wanted some after market wheels (the FJ TRD Anthracite ones actually), but like you said, its just not in the budget. I figure I'll just paint the stock ones and then spend what $$$ i have on some nice A/T Tires.

Thanks for the comments on the build bro.

i respect that yer gonna do whatever the hell ya want in the end and i understand yer dead set on gunmetal, which is a rockin wheel color, but i think a darker wheelset would contrast against the silver bodywork in a much more dramatic fashion and also set off the red pinstripe, which i also dig. if yer stayin with that shade of wheel, ditch the stripe.

I like the red lip! I also like the just the plain ole gun metal too!

If you get tired of the red stripe, just gun metal all of it!

The good thing is that its just a pinstripe kit, so if i get tired of the red pinstripe i can just peel it off

the red strip might highlight the bend while ur driving, which you probably wouldn't care, it might look funny. err maybe doing something black, which i prefer, would look better in my opinion and would help hide the bend mark.
