What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Today the Tacoma towed a boat to the bay for a water test.

The crossmember where the front of my traction bar attaches is getting trashed. I'll take pictures of it tomorrow morning before I fix it. It's gotta be done by 11:30 so the above boat's owner can come and pick up his boat from me.

I had a great short vacation. It was the first time I've ever been in snow that was so light and fluffy. This picture was taken 2 hours before we left to go back home. The blue car in the forefront is ours. Lol.

3M 5200 (marine/boat) sealant, lasts forever and a day, it's paintable, and doesn't require to be "gobbed" on. It's very messy/gets all over you when it's applied.

 

Installed some new Diode Dynamic Fogs. Pretty stoked on them. Hopefully get to see how they work in snow this weekend up in Mammoth.

 

We just got mega snow here in the Chicagoland area last night, and more to come later this week. Where do you live that it’s sunny and your still messing with boats? Truck looks great by the way!!

Haha! My daughters love the headlights. They also prefer pink or purple, which I'll always oblige!

 

San Diego county. Last week it was in the mid 80's and I was taking my shirt off while working during the day. Those weather conditions are gone now though. Either way boating is a all year long activity down here.

That is a clean garage! Mine looks like a tornado hit it partially because a friend of mine is storing some stuff in my garage for a few days (for a few weeks now, go figure).

Is there a link for doing this job ? I guess put blue tape around the rim on the tire, sand and spray - any info appreciated.

 

My cam bolts are rusted up and locked and I can't do a complete alignment. Brought it into the dealer for another issue and asked them to look at replacing those bolts. I still had my keys in my pocket and they told me it was a thousand dollar job because they have to replace the LCAs.

I thought you could replace those bolts rather than that entire part. Seems like a waste if the arms are still good.

 

The bolts rust to the arms, so they have to be cut out and it renders the bushings useless, since there’s a rusted bolt in there now. They could replace just the bushings but that’s labor intensive so may as well just replace the whole thing.

 

Had a local shop take care of this for me. They were able to save the LCA's and ended up cheaper than replacing them. If you do decide to replace them you'll have a spare set to sell or use.

 

Thanks for the info. What are some good, reasonably priced replacement LCAs?
