If you go the 3rd gen route, pull the front bed rail utility track thingy. 3rd gen only has them on the sides, but the 2nd gen one will bolt right up on the front.

I’m in the market for some adjustable front shocks and I’m wondering if anyone manufacture is hold best in the PNW. King,Fox,ADS,Icon, and so on. Most of them come from desert racing not rain mud and snow so I’m curious what people’s experiences have been. Cheers

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
I can't speak for the other manufactures, but I've been running Kings for the past 65k miles and haven't had any problems. The first 55K saw heavy use on logging roads all year long.

All the suspension parts are interchangeable. I think roof racks are the same as well. So you could always buy some oem 3rd gen take off suspension/wheels for cheap and throw them on while you sell yours and then put your stuff on a 3rd gen. I thought 2nd gens were loyalists though :D

Truck used to ride smooth for a truck, after being rear ended two years ago the vibrations have been relentless and past something you can just ignore comfortably for my only vehicle. Then the 4wd shit acting up has been a bit irritating that is fixable but idk this particular Tacoma doesn’t seem to be in the greatest shape since then.

Toyota also chalked the vibrations up to the accident + lift a year ago or so. Knowing guys ride comfortably with a lift to an extent I am thinking it’s exclusively the accident. Aldercrest auto rebuild in Lynwood evaluated it after the accident and the frame wasn’t tweaked AFAIK, they said it wasn’t an issue.

Between my buddy and I we probably have enough to put together a front and rear bumpers. I have all my crash bar parts and he has a 10’ front skin and a rear bumper off his silver truck.

Good to know thanks for the info. I will let you know on that. I really don’t want to get rid of the truck but there comes a point I guess as well. Tough decision. Would be funny if the vibes went away as I started to go back to stock too lol...

An aside before I give up on the truck lol, does anyone know how to check rear axle shafts without just pulling it all apart? There is no abnormal noise in the rear or anything but that’s the only other thing I could think of lol

As a former pro detailer, I'm gonna throw additional shade at you on his behalf. Showing up with that much mud packed into the frame is just mean.
Cool GX470! Kinda wondering if I shouldn't have gone that route in retrospect. For how much I paid for the Taco I could have built one heck of a GX build.
