What is a harsh cornering event?
A harsh right/left turn event with a lateral acceleration of 8.5 miles per hour per second is considered a harsh cornering event

It depends on whether the dealer has placed any wax or ceramic protection on it already.

If not, and you want to have a good base to start from, I would recommend a wash, full clay bar cleaning, which shouldn’t take long, and then protection of your choice whether wax or ceramic. Even as a farm truck this will make it much easier to clean and protect your paint.

Some will laugh at clay bar on a new truck but impurities build up when the truck sits outside, and during delivery of course. I’d just want to kick things off right.

When I picked up my 2021 a month ago the dealer had waxed it as part of the prep. It was fresh off the truck when they did it. I don't think it really matters on new vehicles with the paint and curing process they use. But I am no expert on paint.

Make sense ! I will ask what the dealer does!

trucker picks it up tomorrow 12 pm. I am sure it will get filthy when it gets to my driveway Monday. Will have to give it a wash at very least

Beautiful truck Julia! I wouldn't worry where it was built. I would if it was a GM product but not Toyota LOL.

I’ve been following your saga and I’m very happy for you and the outcome. You got a lot of sound advise and you handle this whole situation amazingly! I really hope you love your new truck and because of all that went on I’m sure you’ll appreciate it that much more.
I know you’ve expressed some concerns on what you should do 1st with it. In my experience Toyota’s have always shown quick wear on the seat bolstering from sliding in and out of the truck. Leather shows wear from this too. I’d get a good set of steps that’ll help you get in and out of the truck W/O sliding too much. However I don’t like steps with hoops that hang down either as they tend to hit things. With that said anything is better than nothing. Can’t wait to see pictures of it when you actually have it in your possession!!! Congrats Julia!!!

This kinda happened to me when I was trying to buy a truck. Dealers are just full of low skilled low competence sales people. They traded/sold my truck twice before they realized I was actually committed to buying.

Granted I did it all over the phone and wouldn't go to the dealership in person.

I was getting the lease special, so the price was fixed and there was no haggling.

Sales manager emailed me like I was a cold lead, and he even took some money off the price. I told him that I couldn't understand why they hadn't sent me the contract and taken my money yet.

Anyways, they found me the truck I wanted (white) and drove it over to me. It also came with a few extras like the full paint protection film package.

They kept saying I should come into the stealership to sign papers, and I kept telling them I wasn't going to do that and to send me the sales contract, with the VIN, and I would return it with the deposit.

I'm pretty happy now, but I will have to do it all over again next year when the 22's come out.
