Or if you do, maybe leave your hood unlatched.

Glad you're back in your truck.

    Congrats.

I'm genuinely curious. Have you tried manually unlocking now that the battery is hooked up again? Just to verify that there's not a broken linkage?

Ten pages and several days into an issue that a simple phone call solved in less than an hour. We have way too much time on our hands.

It's like we was all there standing around the truck with bricks and pry bars looking for something to smash or break .

Just tried it and it unlocks manually with the key with power but doesn't unlock manually with no power. Not a good feature.

Ok, I need an in-service.... key in pocket or hand and I touch the handle and it beeps but, sometimes it doesn't unlock two or more times while I remove and replace my hand on handle. What am I doing wrong, do you need to keep hand on handle a certain period of time or remove ?

It should unlock every time. How many beeps? And are you touching the inside of the handle?

If it beeps twice, then it's unlocked. If it isn't, your lock needs fixing.

I would recommend counting the beeps. One beep is lock, two is unlock. Sometimes I fat-finger the handle and hit the lock area when I meant to unlock. The truck lets me know when I did so.

And sorry in advance if you knew that already. Since I can't assume what is common knowledge I usually start with the most basic of troubleshooting and work my way up.

I was on an extremely cold hike up in the mountains (on a date with a newish lady). Because it was so cold, my key fob battery died. I had read the manual, so I knew I could open the door with the key and start the car with the fob touching the start button. However, when I tried to open the door with the manual key, it didn't work. Slight panic as I was way up in the mountains with a cold lady anxiously looking to get warm in the truck. I fumbled around for a bit with my fingers starting to turn to ice and no luck.....the key just wasn't working. Thank god, I was able to warm the fob in my hands enough to make it work. When at home on a nice warm day, I tried opening the door with both keys that came with the truck with no luck. Moral of the story: It's worth checking to see if your keys work.

I searched the forum to see if anyone else had this issue or had any advice, but I didn't find anything. I had hit a deer and had some body work done, I suspect that repair damaged the lock system....but I don't know anything about locks.

I have never locked myself out, but I have gone crazy trying to find my keys because I left them in the door pocket and the truck won't start when the door is open.

I rarely lock my doors and Simply did not know how to use... I was grabbing handle and laying my thumb on ribbed lock area at same time...

The driver door recognizes having the key fob in your pocket. Touch the driver door handle and the Tacoma automatically unlocks. Press the ribbed bit of plastic on top of the handle and the door relocks.

How did you end up getting back into your truck after that?

Called AAA for lockout service and they used an inflatable wedge in the corner of the window, then used a long a slim jim type tool to unlock the door manually. Literally took him 30 seconds.
