Looking good Jason. Gotta ask, how many miles you have on this puppy now? I always like to hear where people are at with their second gens. I think I read back in your thread you had an engine issue at some point but I can’t remember.

Just hit 200k late last year so she's pretty low mileage for an 06'. Yeah good memory I did have to do the infamous 05'-06' head gasket a few years ago but luckily I saw the early symptoms and caught it before it ever overheated etc. Just had to do the upper oil pan gasket last year too which is another super common one. I thought about selling the truck and starting a new Tundra build but I am so far into it already that I decided just to keep it & hook it up with JD FAB and refresh the ol' girl and keep her forever. Trying to decide between a wrap or paint when it's all done... ?

Rear bumper being widened to match the glass bedsides :

Front bumper with the "chin" cut off for higher ground clearance and will be tied into a skid that mates with the JD Fab LCA tab kit :

Last step with the front bumper will be to widen it to match the width of the +6 glass :

Selling my Solo Motorsports +2 kit complete as is with axles and gusseted spindles for $3500 OBO

Pricing feels fair like buying a kit and getting built axles, a spare axle shaft and gusseted spindles for free...

    Kit Includes :

    • +2 uppers and lowers powder coated silver vein
    • OE lower ball joint adapters powder coated silver vein with 10mm spacer and 10mm longer spindle bolts
    • TC gusseted spindles powder coated silver vein
    • TC +2 axles powder coated silver vein with new cv boots
    • 1 extra +2 spare axle so you can build up a trail spare
    • Crown Performance extended brake lines to run replace everything from the the frame to the caliper ( you will need your own bajo bolts )
    • +2 Tie Rod extensions

    The Bad :

    • Powder coat is a few years old there are some chips in it and some dumbass ...cough...me...cough may have got a bunch of brake clean on the lowers which you can see in the photo
    • The inner bypass tab was cut off to clear my big brake caliper, you could fully remove it and grind it smooth or add it back on easily if you are going to run a bypass. The remaining bypass tab is a perfect place to strap too.
    • One of the brake lines has a cut in the clear cosmetic shielding only, does not affect performance.
    • LCA bushings need to be replaced, just the usual wear and tear cheap and easy to replace.

    What you will need :

    • Standard 8" CO, kit was designed around a King CO.
    • Staps and clevis'
    • LCA bushings
    • Bajo bolts for the calipers

    +2 kit.jpg

Here is what the kit looks like installed with OE brakes :

    Progress pics :

Front bumper mounting points have been reinforced and tied into the new frame plates, there is also a new square tube cross member that will have additional bumper mounting points on it. The goal here is to never have to worry about the winch tweaking the front end.

Converting the rear single swing out to a dual swing out, license plate is being relocated to the spare tire so we can lower the spare without worrying about blocking the license plate. License plate box is being filled in. Left swing out will have jerry cans and Pro Eagle Jack :

She's back on her own feet, looks like the +4 kit with a 35" tire on a 4.75 backspace fits the +6 glass pretty good.

Rear bumper is almost done, widened to match the +6 bedsides, new 60/40 swing gates that lowered the spare and the jerry cans down a bit. Since the spare is covering the license plate location partially they built a license plate relocation bracket to move the license plate up to the spare tire. If the spare needs to be removed there is a simple cotter pin to pull like this example below and I have an LED license plate frame for it :

Next up is the camper shell, they are building some custom full length bed rails that will support the camper shell up off of the bedsides. The shell has an approx 1 1/2" over hanging lip that originally overlapped the OE bed sides, that lip will be trimmed so that the shell will sit at the correct height. If you look closely you can see that the Prinsu Cap Rack is sitting about a 1/2" higher than the Cab Rack :

I've been staring at this silver streak paint for 15 years so I am thinking about a new color, still not sure if I want to wrap or paint...

If I paint the truck it will probably be this machinery grey color, I like the darker cement colors better than the OE Toyota cement

    upload_2021-4-9_9-4-59.jpg

If I wrap the truck I am leaning toward this black multicam wrap. They sent me samples of all of the different camo pattern size variants and it's pretty cool in person. The truck in this picture has the pattern at 300% which is the largest pattern then it goes down to 100% or 50%. It has a satin finish and the colors really flop in different light conditions. It's basically a black base with green / bronze hues in it.

Ordered this hood from Road Runner, it is a second gen hood with a third gen scoop in it. Should shed a few lbs vs the OE hood and get a little different look. It is not on their website yet but they are doing custom orders for it currently.

Nice! Do they have a plain Jane hood for 05-11 trucks too? I’ve got a dorkel so a scoop would look pretty retarded on mine but my OEM hood is disintegrating and would be nice to shed some weight.

Edit: never mind I just googled. Looks they even offer the third gen body conversion. TJ style haha
