    My vacuum of three years is not worth repairing...POS haha. Now I'm having to choose amongst all the manufactures and to determine weather I want a bagless cleaner or not. So I'm creating this pole to see what other members are useing to help me with my purchase.

    My broken vacuum is a bagless Bissel that I purchased from Best Buy. It's an upright type that I've been pretty happy with until now. What I didn't like about it was that it was kind of messy when it was time to empty the canister and that the plastic material it's made of seems thin and cheap.

    I'd like to stick with an upright type and I do have a dog which sheds and having clean air while vacuuming is a plus. If you choose other please indicate the brand and type you purchased. I look forward to the responce. Thanks TW!

    Pretty much what we have. That little thing at the bottom is the upholstry power head. Works wonders for Carseats.

    Oh...I forgot to mention. Have you seen how much some vacuum cleaners are???? Sheeez!!! I saw one where my vacuum cleaner went for repair that was $900. It was American made, had a bag, two motors and a metal roller at the bottom. It was made by Simplicity.

    i voted dyson, because we have one and it does awesomely...but orecks are good too.....especially the industrial ones.

    BAH! Dyson is a Transformer vacuum, and the plastic can break. Orek is a fine vac., but you get more power with the Hoover I mentioned.


    FWIW, I like to consider myself a "Vacuum conisure", as I have gone thru plenty in the past. For example, Here is a vid on my last Kenmore:

    Some more credentials.....When testing out vacuums, Dyson particularly, As I was attempting to vacuum up some "Test media", or whatever the guy called it, the Dyson took 4 passes to get about 90% of it up. The Orek took 3, and the Hoover I mentiuoned above took 1. Yes. ONLY 1 PASS! When finished, the guy began to show the "versatility" of the Dyson, by demonstrating the way you can extend a part of it and vacuum something "Hard to reach". It worked well, but then fell apart to the point the dude was still trying to re assemble it as I left. I belive the Dyson, when faced with the competition, simply killed itself.

    I can't say much about vacuums myself. My original vacuum cleaner is a Phantom. That damn thing is still going and going. It's been used for drywall dust, sawdust, and is currently the basement 'junk' vacuum cleaner.

    I've heard great things about Dyson's from various people - however - I'd NEVER spend that much money on a vacuum cleaner and I don't care what kind it is.

    I actually bought a new Dyson off ebay for under $300 with ebay coupons/free shipping. It's a 'Target Red' series Dyson that was made only for the Target stores. It's a full upright (can't remember the number) with all the attachments.

    Aside from it being almost completely made of plastic and sometimes feels 'cheap', it SUCKS much better than my Phantom ever did!! I enjoy it (for as much as someone can 'enjoy' a vacuum cleaner :rolleyes:)

    those Kirby ones are nice as hell. the ones you put the water in the pan below. it basically steam cleans. works like a charm if you have dogs or cats that shed a lot

    Though I have been of this same mindset for quite some time, The Hoover I got is a bagged Vac. My Wife has bad alergies, and the dust out here can be as fine as baby powder. The Hoover uses HEPA bags, and no dust, or smell come from them. And it easilly holds 10 times more than a non bagged vac. So you have to change a bag once in a while? The filtration is better than other HEPA vacs. I have used. I only have to replace the bags once every 4-6 months.
