Being cheap, I found a brand new, never installed, still in the original box, with all the paperwork, Advantage Sure-Fit and paid $60 to a local on FB marketplace. It's a snap cover tonneau that is a bit of a pain to snap, but like I said, I'm cheap and for $60 bucks...

Diamondback. It's not a roll up, but it's the toughest one you can get. You can mount stuff to it, and haul heavy loads on top of it if needed. I can't imagine having any other cover.

I like the OEM one. Generally, I don't like running a tonneau cover, but it is nice for extra weight and security if need be. Plus it is nice for hauling my camping stuff safely as well.

For those who like the Retrax but don't like the space it takes up, check out Peragon. I considered them, but my truck came with the OEM one. The Peragon one collapses like the Retrax, but is removable and doesn't have a box to take up space in the bed.

So far after about a year, very happy with the oem toyota tonneau cover...yeah, its a bit heavy, but it seals quite well. Dealer even supplied a bottle of wolfsteins tonneau cover protectant with it.

Since we're on the topic of tonneau covers... what's so special about the $750 one that Toyota offers as an option when you Build & Price? Does it say TRD on it or something?

It says "Tacoma" on the OEM cover. It's a solid unit for the money and mine is water tight. Gotta say if my truck had not come with the OEM cover, I would be leaning towards that Diamondback cover. That thing is a total beast but damn it is expensive!

    Thanks!

I had no idea. I just know that $739 is awfully steep for a tonneau cover and really did not want to pay it. That's good info though. Hopefully someone finds it useful.

Went Lomax aluminum tri-fold very secure and low profile plus it takes 2 minutes to take it off and get full access to my 6ft bed. Extremely happy with it and it hardly ever leaks.

I went for the BAK Revolver X4. I absolutely love it. It's a hard cover that rolls up. It gives you most of the bed access with all the benefit of a trifold. If I need the full bed, I can unbolt the cover with 4 bolts at the bulkhead.

It's made of aluminum slats and every one of them get locked down when the final bit of it is latched. I don't really see much of a way of breaking into it. Maybe a crowbar? But I wouldn't try that on my own cover haha.

The only down side that I've found is that it's not the most waterproof thing but it keeps everything in the center of the bed 100% dry. Also it's not the cheapest cover out there by any means but I found it a worthwhile investment for looks, convenience, and security.

I have the Gator tri-fold on my long bed 2019, cost around $250 on Amazon a couple years ago. I’ve had a few of these over the years, been very happy with them.

Third this. I feel like you lose some bed space with the Tri fold. And if you fold it up, it blocks rear window

I've had just about every style of cover on the market. The rolling hardcovers are my favorite. They are way more secure than soft, sit flush on the bedrail, and don't take up room in the bed. Of the hardcover rolls I've had a Bak Roll X and a Sentry CT. The Bak was partially replaced under warranty as it literally started falling apart after a couple of years. It kept 99% of water out, but the top did not weather well. I'm only a year into the Sentry CT but so far really prefer it. It's waterproof, the top seems much more durable, and it's very easy to remove if I need to take it off for any reason. It's worth noting, I don't live in snow climate. Both the Bak and Sentry can ice up and make rolling a PITA if it's frozen.

I bought my Tacoma as a 4x4 Any road, any weather car. It has 4 doors and with a Diamondback cover, it has a secure trunk. For me, it's not a truck, but a heavy duty car.

I was able to fit my 42'' husquvarna lawn tractor perfectly in my 6' access cab's bed, even with the factor tonneau cover flipped over as far as it would go. That made my day not having to lift it off.

I can confirm the freezing issue has happened to me once in two winters so far. I was able to muscle it open just fine but I keep a bottle of windshield de-icer just in case.
