I decided to start 2021 off with a 10+ day trip to and through the Mojave desert only to break something on the first day and had to patch things up enough to make the trip home the next day.
At least the other folks with me had an epic trip.

Here's the pic of the temp repair that let me drive 10 hours home.
Doc said I broke 1 bone and fractured 3 others.
Oh, and its my right foot

New-ish to the NorCal area... covid wasn't the only thing that ruined my 2020 trips, anyone been around Lake Berryessa since the fire?

I did some home assessment surveys after the burns in Oregon... we had a few different rental vehicles, one being a taco with the crawl control- did great over ash and branches. And when the snow blanketed everything still never slipped once.

Very sad to see so much burned, but I was thinking on a positive maybe the fire access roads they created may have opened up some new wheelin' spots

Unlikely. Trails are designed very differently than roads cut to move heavy equipment. Never mind some might be on private land.

That’s how it is in SoCal too... I grew up in the mountains and worst case of you found yourself on private land they just make you leave. As long as you’re on somewhat of a trail and not hurting anything no one has seemed to care, or maybe I’m just really lucky

    Ouch!
    How'd you break your foot?
Glad to see you had a nice splint handy. I carry one of those along with a mile of ace bandage stuff and a nice variety of pain killers I have left over from a previous incident.

    An unlucky step.
Was just walking away from the campfire towards my truck, next thing I know I was on the ground.

Just looking into some clay/ceramic coating options... anyone in our area know of a good place with decent prices? Saw some local ads for $2000+!
