Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
Oh, yeah. I would consider that a repairable hole. A patch from the inside-out is always best, but you could do that yourself with a plug.
If you go the DIY route, make sure you do it right- hole reamed out, rubber cement on plug, cure overnight with heat.

Looks like it should be far enough away from the sidewall to plug, but they may want to pop it off the rim to say for sure.

I got a flat a year ago, all my tires were 4/32" or lower, and 5 years old. I did replace all 4. Should you? probably not, I'd patch it.

I know a few DT shops that would give you grief over that one. Its fixable with the caveat that it didnt angle into the sidewall once it went in, it just might take some arguing to get it done.

you can safely plug that Charlie

however until you pull it out you wont know how far deep in actually, penetrated...

honestly it might have been that it only made it the depth of the knobby and not actually through the metal plies behind the rubber

Hmmmm.......close to the tire shoulder. Depends on depth and angle of entry, if it went into the sidewall, then no fix.

Another note. There are beginning signs of rubber failure, cracking between the lugs. What is the date code on the tires?

The wear bars are close to being exposed.......

Considering these borderline situations, it may be time for a new set of shoes for the ride.

I dodged a bullet! Took it to Mavis, where they immediately said it couldn’t be patched; My mechanic is a good friend of mine, so I took it to his house and did a leak test. He then pull the nail, and it still wasn’t leaking! The nail went in sideways!

Guess who doesn’t have to take the price of a new tire out of his “down payment on a house” fund?!?!

You got lucky with the nail.

Play the lottery or something like that ... you are lucky. If that was me it would have gone straight through, rattled around and did more damage. Just had that exact thing happen on a run flat ... and those tires are not cheap.

Good to see someone with good luck in a time of COVID ...

Well, my uncle says I can get another year out of the tires, so I’m just glad I don’t have to drop several hundred dollars on new tires NOW!
