No hex heads on the two screws that secured the brush holder - this on a 2001 3.4l. Work very carefully with a phillips screwdriver. A JIS screwdriver is a better idea. Other than that caution the job was pretty easy. Timmah has a video about it - he unmounts the alternator before he takes the electrical plug out to get a little better grip on the plug. Timmah had trouble getting the pivot bolt back in - my pivot bolt had a tapered end lined up and went in easily. Judging from the wear on mine 250k miles is an appropriate time to replace the brushes.

OK, I wondered why @Speedytech7 would have a Jag alt and discovered it's an upgrade for us 4cyl guys, sweet! I assume same alternator for 2rz/3rz??

I don't have a need for it since I'm not running anything which demands more amps but now I have to talk myself out of it because it's something to upgrade. Double the amps, hell yea. 'Merica!

It's pretty close to a direct PnP, it fits in place and the belt works as is. But you have to make an adapter to the plug it uses on the back, it's wiring compatible though, you just omit the sense wire (which is only needed on the stock alt)

thanks! saw this post about the swap, it didn't mention the sense wire (I don't know what that is) but I really don't need to upgrade the alt so I'm going to try to forget about this

I'd recommend this one. It's the one that everyone uses, and has verified quality parts. 100% OEM parts kit from aircabinman

Also, you'll need a few more things as well (coolant, etc.) and some special tools make the job easier. Write-up here with those few things and step-by-step instructions on the whole job.

    Thanks Mike! And they are!

hm not as big a difference as you'd expect. Though I imagine thats most OneDrives compression. The last photo is pretty obvious is the better camera. But the others not as easy to tell.

I don't really know how you expect to see any difference on images that are twstatic and 1200px wide. :p Besides, Mike just said they were nice, not better, and asked if they were with the new camera.

Stop being such a downer. :luvya:

Canon R5. I'd say it's a mixed bag right now as I learn the new system. I'm sure I'll write up a post soon enough.

All my photos are on flickr you goof, haven't been on OneDrive since 2017. For these, I just uploaded a few to TW b/c I haven't processed the whole trip, and so don't have them uploaded to flickr yet.

This probably isn’t the place for it but idc,
What’s full frame mean? One of the photography guys I guided this winter said something about it and I just nodded my head and changed the subject.

Refers to sensor size. Full frame means the sensor size is the same dimensions as a 35mm film negative, cropped sensor is smaller.

Explain to him how that changes the relative sizing of the lenses on a crop sensor too if they're full frame lenses haha, his head will explode

I started to type it out but then stopped lol.

Basically you get whats called 'crop factor' if you use a lens designed for full frame camera with a crop sensor camera. So a 50mm lens suddenly becomes a ~75mm one or something like that.
