If you’re looking for affordable then MacBook Air. Pro will have better processors etc in them. For mostly school stuff an Air would be fine.


I do photography and graphics so I went with a Pro again with my last one.

 

I currently have a MacBook Pro that my brother gave me when he graduated from college. It works flawlessly but it’s full of nursing documents he doesn’t want to get rid of so I’m going to buy my own. Not sure what model it is, but the ID is A1708

 

Dump all his stuff in a external hard drive.

Dude gives me an allowance for good grades plus he pays me for any errands he needs done while he’s out of town

The main difference is going to be the processors in them. I see they are now offering the Pro with the same processor as the Air in the lower end Pro’s. That will probably be all you need to be honest. The track bar is nice but you’d have to ask yourself if it’s worth $300 more to have it.


Mine has the i9 chip and track bar and I like it. The track bar is like a screen that changes as you use different programs.

When browsing the web it looks like this. You can select different tabs from it.





when I play a YouTube video it switches to slide control for the video and volume on the right.




open up Pages (Apple version of Word) to get this.





Neat but will just depend if you’ll use it or not. Didn’t have the choice on mine. That’s how it comes.

 

Guess I’ll get the Air

 

Just make sure you get a big enough SS drive and you don’t have to rely on an external all the time. Or store music, videos and crap like that on external and get the smaller internal.


That one you have looks like my old one. It still works fine too I just can’t update the OS because it’s too old now. It’s a late 2011 one. I believe that A1708 is a couple years newer though.

 

Also the way they do them now you can’t just pop the case open and change anything out in them. Everything is soldered in now so you have to get what you want when you buy it.

Just looked mine is a A1990 EMC 3359. So I guess the first 2 numbers are the year of them. I got mine on sale and it was the last 15.4" model they were getting because the 16" had just come out. Well the 16" was the same price as this one was on sale but the new ones had a i7 processor in it. I wanted to be special with the desktop chip in mine. lol

 

Just saw my pic from earlier and realized my desktop was a damn mess. Cleaned it up and looking good again.
