Well, I took measurements from another access cab (the allocation for mine goes in tomorrow). Looks like with the width that I'll be able to get 2-8's in the console that I'm gonna build. Not what I wanted, but I'll deal with it.
    Stay tuned..........

If anyone is still looking for a simple gen 3 access cab sound solution, I would suggest the JBL Fuse 8" subwoofers. It's an interesting passive under seat subwoofer set (they "split" into two units). They're pretty new, so you won't see many reviews of them. They can be excellently driven by a small 300 watt RMS amp.

JL Audio makes a Stealthbox sub for 3rd gen access cab.

    Link?

Yeah, I saw the price on that. I'm planning on building one with 2 8" for cheaper than that. Unless I like the JBL Fuse 8" sub that MahTV is talking about.

Rocked a JL Audio sub unit in my 1st gen extra cab, designed specifically for extra cabs, with a dedicated amp from same company. Pricey but awesome. Very tight accurate bass. You could rig up a louder setup but IMO louder is not always better. Might do same for my 19 access cab.

JBL Fuse dockable sealed 8" sub enclosures

    [IMG] [IMG]

These will slide right under your seat and be completely hidden. On your passenger side, you will have to take the seat out and flip up that stupid crossbar though. I'm pretty sure that tutorial is good for Gen 2 and 3, but you'll figure it out once you pull the seat. That bar is a stupid design choice.

As for the output on the JBL Fuse, you will have your lows. You will NOT be bumping, however. You'll just get an awesome sounding sound system with good auditory low end.

I just got my access cab's audio all updated, and the last piece I'm looking into is a sub for the back. I think I've going to have to remove the storage boxes, and put a piece of carpeted MDF over the cavity in order to mount the sub box. I've been eyeballing a few JL Audio solutions

    1. ACP112LG-TW1
    2. CS212LG-TW1
    3. HO112RG-W3v3

You happen to have used any of these, or have any opinions? I'm leaning towards the ACP111SLG-TW1, but I kinda wanted 2 subs. I'm wondering if the ported ACP111SLG-TW1 would sound better than the 2 sealed CS212LG-TW1.

I'd kinda like to see what your old sub setup looked like in your access cab, if you had some pics? Thanks!

I don't have an old set up, because I don't even have the truck yet. I'll be building a box for 2-8's for mine to go between the jumpseats though.

Sorry should have mentioned it was the Stealthbox unit. Took up a lot of space (but provided an armrest), sounded great and was still going strong after 15 years. In my opinion, with this, there was no need for 2 subs.

Here is the 1st gen Stealthbox:

3rd gen Stealthbox. No experience with this one.
