I've gone back and forth on a cover. As I've said earlier our farm is bordered on 2 sides by a river and we kayak and canoe a lot. At my age - I can get lazy - and I usually throw the kayaks in the bed (though we have a nice Thule set up on the rood of our Tahoe). On my truck I think the cover would get in the way. We also have other suv's that have covered storage, so I've passed. I know if the truck was my only vehicle I would definitely have a cover! I've so enjoyed reading this thread and as I've said I am so very impressed with your tenacity coupled with decency and respect for those with whom you were/are dealing. You are a rare combo - and that is why this has worked out so well - this was not LUCK. IMG_2864.jpg

I do think for the price you guys pay on the loaded MT, keyless start, and push button should be there. No reason it can't. Ex of mine had a S2000 (I don't know what year), and it had push button + 6MT, so it isn't something that can't be done.

6 bed option is frustrating not to have. If there was a DCLB 6MT, I know I would buy that. But I understand the market doesn't demand it.

That blue is GORGEOUS. I remember when the FJC had that end of its run (looks to my eyes same blue). Ahhh the grass. THat picture is so beautiful. Its all sand/dirt here. ONLY trees in almost 2 miles, are the ones on my farm. Its desolate. I will grab a pic of the farm from afar - so you will see how no trees and no grass here!

For me, the rollup cover would be nice for the travel. Aside from that, I would leave it off on a day to day basis, because I use the full bed.

Thank you for your kind words. You are a gem! Much appreciated. :)

We live up in the northeast on a small 60 acre piece of heaven - lots of trees and sits back on a dirt road 1/2 mile from the main road. And, we crew for a hot air balloon company so we get to travel into some interesting areas to recover the balloon when they land.

Your truck will be perfect for your needs!! Can't wait to see it. I've had mine for almost a year now and still smile every time I get into it.

The blue...LOL - I have it because of price (I'm cheap). I do like it now and I get a lot of compliments. I made a deal on a price of a truck - did on the phone negotiating with many dealerships. I'm inpatient and will not sit anywhere for more than an hour. - thus I usually make all deals (like cars, houses, land, etc) over the phone. I made a deal on a truck with a dealer (about 2 1/2 hours from my home). The deal was for a silver truck. Over the past 40 plus years of driving/buying vehicles - I almost always buy silver, gold or white... I'm boring or consistent (depending on the perspective)

I had told them to have the truck ready and I would write a check and hit the road. As we pulled up to the dealership - They had 2 trucks out in front...one silver and one blue. They asked If I would take the blue one, if so they would knock off a thousand bucks (it may have been a bit more can't remember - memory is fading - LOL). I said fill it up and I'm gone. I went out to tell my wife - she never comes in with me when I do business. She asked why they were parking the silver truck - I told her I bought another color and she was floored. I love silver - but I love money more.

    hallelujah! :D Great story!!!

Funny thing is around here White/Silver are the cheapest tacomas. Which is why I had my 2018 SR Silver.

    Blue denotes more $$ here.

I look forward to seeing your pics - not sure where you are located. I have friend - he practices (Doctor) in San Diego. His parents have a Cherry Farm - fairly close to him (I can't remember where). His parents farm looks green (from the pics he has sent), so obviously they are not near you. I am not that familiar with California - in fact I've only been once. As I was visiting colleges - I visited the Campus of Stanford in Palo Alto back in 1979. I thought it was nice, though I ended up on the other coast (Duke).

Your friends farm is likely Temecula (Avacad0 + wine)

I attached a map. Your friend is about 2 hours from me. You will see all the Cherry farms are lot closer to the coast than where we are. The date farms are all inland. Duke is an amazing place. I went on a tour to Duke/Rice/Vanderbilt long time ago. I am a CAL Alumni (not smart enough for Stanford) :)

Thank you. I like silver on a FJ60. But my third gen silver never grew on me. Then again, its probably with the SR, black bumpers etc. When I was younger, poor people (us) we had plastic bumper cars. All the well off people had body colored bumpers. I know trends change.

Thus I think of the Sport model/SR5 as "higher model" visually speaking. Since they are all body colored. Guess my OR black fenders harken me back the days, when we couldn't afford a right side mirror, body colored door handles, or body colored mouldings or bumpers..... haha :D

Toyota does offer Manuals with Push Button Start so they can do it. My personal opinion of why the Tacoma does not is because of the Clutch Start Cancel Switch, it allows you to put the truck in gear and turn the key and ride the starter out to get you out of a tricky situation.

I’d rather that than all these keyless, remote start, push button gimmicks. I had all this stuff on my bimmers and could take it or leave it. I look for good driving characteristics (for my usage be it off road or track or touring) above all else.
One of my all time favourite vehicles comes with strings instead of door handles.. I think that’s awesome.

Someone earlier mentioned that an MT does not have a 6’ bed option in Canada - ACs are all 6’.
We do get less options in general, but clearly they’ve determined what sells best where, so the people complaining are in the minority.

Yes but sadly not a double cab long box with MT.
