Well if you're going to say something as stupid as that than I will say that the Marine Corps is currently bailing everyone out of Helmand province. That place has every unit. And they're all standing in line at pizza hut at KAF. When we showed up everybody else was scared to get in a fight. I saw this thread when it first started and stayed out because I knew it was trouble. All special operations consist of people. They are regular people that are like anybody else. They go through some training and have expensive gear. Until you realize that you will think that they are something special, but once you see them on person and in action you find yourself saying "are you serious? these guys are fucking jokes"

But back to thenomad, go fuck yourself. No one bailed the Marines out of Fallujah.

USMC Recon or Force Recon should be a part of the discussion. Seals rock though.

Awwww someone is mad. Your talking to me like I know nothing about the military or special operation units.

You are assuming I am putting down the Marines but I wasn't. I was simply stating a fact to get the dipshits, who think the Marines are the best, to think outside the box. I don't think the Army is the best, or any branch for that matter.

Dude, once you pull your head from your ass and stop thinking you are a bad ass maybe you'll be able to see and think straight.

That one of the best parts isn't it? :D But I really don't like the Air Force... they have a "No Drunk Marines" policy in their E clubs on Okinawa. Its not fair.

You know, alot of the "fatness" really depends on the unit as well. Reservist units usually being the worst IN ANY BRANCH. They tend to be the most fat gelatinous ones around.

Of course there are alot of variables, maybe some dude is about to end his contract, doesn't give a shit and just lets go. Maybe its a unit where they sit on their asses all day and they just watch the weight scale go clockwise. :D

Sir, with all due respect, it also depends on their MOS. I'm a reservist but I'm a grunt. Every grunt Marine in my unit is in shape, except one or two. If you are not in shape and your mos is 03XX, you will find out the hard way come drill weekend. Drill weekend consists of hitting the field and doing company size ops. Each platoon will patrol all day and night, getting shut eye only in the ORP when a squad gets to go on the rest plan. Then before we get on the buses to come home, there is usually a hump. Distance varies but is usually between 3-15 miles with full pack and weapons. We pack our flaks and sappis in our packs. Weapons platoon has to hump with their weapon systems and 16s... If you fall out, you will have a written counsel by the PLT SGT and PLT CMDR. If you're an E-3 and below and fall out, be prepared to stand by for working party and firewatch.

I have friends who are POGS in the reserves and they have a lot of fat Marines. The fat Marines I've seen are in headquarters and H&S with mos like admin, landing support, comm, etc...

Also my POG buddies get all the luxury in the world. During drill weekend, they get catered to from an outside company. And Marines who rate billeting get to stay at Holiday Inn.

In my unit, which is a grunt unit, we don't get any luxury at all. Marines who rate billeting and are E-3s and below, stay at some shitty ass hotel. Marines who rate billeting and are E-4s and above get to stay at Howard Johnson. In the field, we stuff our faces with MREs. We've never had catering. If we're lucky, the roach coach or the "rolling px" will stop by at our training site and Marines get to buy pogey bait with their own money.

I can vouch to say Marine grunt reservists are in top shape because grunts are on their feet and are held to a higher standard than regular Marines.

    Semper Gumby.
