Did you see my follow up post after the one you quoted? I put a picture of the gap between ubolt and sumo bracket. Did your ubolts sit completely flat on the sumo bracket? Close up pics appreciated

Just looked at their website and the link they provide with installation instructions states you should be able to simply loosen the u-bolts, remove the factory bump stops and replace with the sumo springs and re-tighten. Do you think it’s possible they sent you the wrong parts? Wouldn’t think you would need to modify it. Hopefully they can provide some guidance and/or resolution.

I actually think the problem is not the sumo springs and more the ubolt that was sent with the aal from headstrong. I sus they are just slightly narrower than stock.

The thought crossed my mind too. You would think the only dimensional deviation from factory specs would be the length. Not sure how much wheelin you do but now would be the perfect time to do the u-bolt flip kit. :D
Edit: Nevermind. Looks like the flip kit from Wheelers Off-road can only be used with their Super Bumpstops.

That’s what I would of thought, only change should be the length but if the bends were made slightly short/narrow and because of the inner radius (which would also shorten the width of what can fit between) it would completely make sense.

super spring has responded saying the engineer said it would be ok to notch the edges to fit but honestly that’s a last resort for me. I’m still waiting to hear back from headstrong and this weekend I’ll probably just install the sumos just so I can pull the factory ubolt and compare to the aal ubolt (take pics and measurements). Then request new ubolts. The only way I’d even consider notching is if they refuse to replace and if I can get someone to drill press notches or some other tooling so it’s not hacked.

I don’t wheel so a flip kit isn’t something I’d do or would find necessary for me

edit: I wonder how much longer they are or if I have enough threads to reuse stock

A few subtle things on my new Taco. Took down the chrome mirror covers and fog lights, added black lettering. Might vinyl grille and surround a little darker and black out badges. Love the limited hickory interior but not a huge fan of the heavy chrome. This is my commuter.

I think it looks much better with the painted mirror covers. I don’t know what they were thinking with the chrome.

IMO the chrome mirror covers look hideous. The painted covers are a huge inprovement.
If you want to black out the emblems check out AMAZON for some black overlay kits. I did mine and I'm quite happy with them.

I have had this in the back seat for three years. Stands up to mud, salt, claws, washer and dryer. Still good as new. It protects the back seat quite well. Nice looking pup btw.

From what I’ve read you shouldn’t re-use u-bolts. Anytime they’re removed they should be replaced. Read below:
    https://beattiespring.com/blogs/knowledge-center/the-biggest-u-bolt-question-we-get

Edit: you could check to see if the stock u-bolts have enough thread and order replacements if they do.

Saw a lunar rock pro in person yesterday. Color looks nice in person. The pictures don’t do it justice.
