Yes everything is V2 now. I think the cutoff was 1098 or something around there

 

i need those interior latches the v2 has...anyone know if they can be retro-fitted into the v1? I'm guessing not since the framing is all new.

 

Just got to wait a bit. GFC said they're planning to offer an 'upgrade kit' for the v1. No info on when or price - just a tease.

 

I'm still waiting on the new hinges but glad they finally came up with a solution.

GFC said Tuesday on their Instagram live feed that they would be announcing details on the upgrade kit at end of the week.

 

My GFC is ready in a few weeks here... I've seen a some people saying they're adding in a 1" latex mattress on top of their bed in the tent. Will it still close with the 1" addition, or are they packing it down and storing it each time they put the tent down?

 

I added a 1" latex topper and I am able to still close it with in place under the GFC sheets on the bed. I flip the two small squares upside down in the rear which helps as you close it. It definitely made the bed more comfortable.

Is there anything particularly useful about the beef rack that would make it more desirable than a standard Yakima crossbar?

Other than looks.

It seems the beef bars are good for mounting flush objects like solar panels, traction boards, or anything else that has a vertical bolt orientation. I mainly need to add a rooftop box and a flyrod holder, both of which are designed for thule/yakima bars that are a smaller diameter than the beef and have horizontal fittings. Standard bars are also about $160 cheaper to setup...seems like the more logical choice. Am I missing anything?

 

My thoughts exactly. I have Yakima bars. They work great.

id only get beef bars if I planned to permanently mount something to them. But for “adventure accessories” I prefer the Yakima bars.

 

Im going to do this DIY option. Just planning on having 1 solar panel and a box for recovery gear up there permanently

 

recently picked up some josh edgar designs step up, super handy. also grabbed a vrnclrsewnstorage top shelf to go with the frame bags, which all make life easier. and cant say enough about @shittco awning blocks

they are very well made from quality materials, using strong magnets, and he is a one man - gfc owning - small business who has designed and tested his own products, for a small 'niche' market. so there is something cool about that.

they are super handy stuff. we have slowly brought things, usually christmas and birthday gifts....

sometimes its the simple things that improve that quality of life

 

no doubt it’s quality I’d rather buy from someone like him than ARB etc. Maybe one would be nice for the back space by the rear hatch. I impulse buy so who knows.

id say the one we find the most useful is that rear frame bag. we run it so its accessible inside, (so passenger one on drivers side) - run toiletry bags and head lamps etc..... impulse buy, i brought coffee last night at midnight off a gfc forum discussion link...
