I don't know how the batching works but I literally was just talking to my dealer today. Asked him about manual Lunar Rock specifically. He said if I ordered one today I'd be looking at 6 to 8 months.

Take that for what it's worth.

Exactly. It’s like light speed in slow motion with no fast forward or exit.

Such a cool color. Wife wants a 4runner in it. First time she's mentioned one. Nothing wrong with having a Tacoma and 4Runner right?

Hey buddy! I'm in Summerville! I have a 2020 4Runner in the driveway next to my Taco. Wife uses the 4Runner. Had my daughter's 2004 4runner out there too, but I just sold that baby with 220k miles on it. That was my first new truck I ever bought.

Awesome. My first car was a 94 4Runner with 170k. Sold it with over 200 and still saw it driving around for a long time after

Nope. My wife bought a 2021 4Runner Off Road. She was bummed it didn't come in Lunar Rock. Now I'm looking at a Lunar Rock Tacoma Pro.

    :p
My original Manual LR reservation was missed by the dealer - in the meantime, I was able to fortunately snag one delivered in November... (that was just plain luck!)- The original 'reservation' (made in October) is currently expected to be delivered sometime in April.

This was with one of the largest Toyota dealers anywhere.... and they were denied by Toyota and missed out on that run of any LR PROs. Toyota determines where the PROs go by some mysterious 'algorithm'. -Maybe random? - I suspect that they try to spread them geographically...

I got mine from a small dealer in Oregon, which realising they had been magically allocated an LR Manual by Toyota, posted it on-line. - I happened to be poking around at that time and was the first to call on it.

Looking at similarly equipped Off Roads with little flexibility, I was shooting for MSRP on the PRO when mark-ups at the time (especially for the LR) were up to $20,000 above MSRP.

I walked from a couple of these Tacos, without managing to get any movement on the markup... - they were serious about getting the full mark-up!

I tried to improve on MSRP on this one without much success... I managed a few very nice freebies thrown in - and the dealer also came through with additional ones on delivery. We closed over 2 phone conversations within some 45 minutes.

Once we closed, I was told that there was already a line formed behind me waiting to snag my Taco in case I did not buy... - as I said - this was pure luck after an intense month's long search... Laying down the footwork required to locate one of these beasts is important, but, as they say, it is often better to be lucky...

The Taco was delivered some 20 days later. (I did have my doubts that any would ever show up with my name on it...)

I imagine orders placed now would be for June (if any are left un-allocated / sold for that production slot). Otherwise other LRs would be looking at September, then that should be it fo LRs... then onto the Pink 2022s :p

As I understand from the dealer, there are only some 40-50 LR Manual Tacomas to be built.

I'll add an interesting note that I had not mentioned previously - A couple of dealers asked for my details upon initiating conversations on the LR PROs and once they determined I was 'in-state' they mentioned that they would in-fact need proof of residency in the state in order to proceed with the sale of the LR PRO.

They were clear that they would not sell to buyers from other states. I did not get clear reasons why; but this is another detail which leads me to believe that Toyota wants to spread the PROs geographically in some sort of strategy... (likely in support of Marketing?).

Clearly this is not always the case... as I bought out of state... but I found it interesting.

Where other manufacturers limit production of a model to how many people order; Toyota seems to actually strictly limit how many Pro's and especially how many MT they produce. I had no idea that getting the truck I wanted was going to be so challenging (as soon as I saw LR, I was in love), but it had to be an MT. My only regret with my previous Tacoma was the AT. I really, really prefer a manual and I anticipate this will probably be my last one as my next truck will likely be electric.

I ordered mine the day the Online Toyota Order form came online. End of August I think. Four dealers contacted me, each ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 over MSRP, and none of them guaranteed it would be an MT. The last dealer, the dealer I actually go with normally (bought my Subaru and my last Tacoma from them) said no mark-up, but they would not budge on MSRP, and no incentives or discounts, not even the military discount of $500 could be applied. But they gave me waaaaaaay over book on my Tacoma trade-in, and gave me the Roof Rack for cost, so who cares, right. (Also, mine came with the TRD intake, and it wasn't on the sheet - I didn't think that was a thing).

The dealer is the biggest in my region, and they said by the time my order was placed there were 10 people in line ahead of me. Ordering in August/September, I was told to expect the truck to arrive by February or March. But two weeks later Toyota selected mine over all the others because I was the only one wanting an MT. Two weeks after that, the truck was built, and a week after that I took delivery.

Like OZ TRD, a lot of luck was involved in getting mine and at the time I had no idea how much luck would play into it. But that said, I know MT guys get a lot of grief on here, but seriously, it is worth waiting for the MT. It is hard to quantify how different the truck is with the MT. It has _plenty_ of power, noticeably more than my 4.0 and it, simply, a much more enjoyable to drive. And seriously, photo's do not do the LR justice.

I mentioned this in another post, but I'm an old fart and I have a lot of cars. Never have I had one that gets so many compliments. Virtually every gas stop, someone says something, construction guys in the neighborhood will walk down the street to ask me about it. In real life, it's a stunner, and arguably the best color ever put on a Tacoma. Not to mention, that it has been well documented that, for some unknown reason, LR Tacomas make more torque than any other color. So, there is that.

Search the post history... I believe there was something about there being a need for a full-size truck / heavy towing or similar...

Maybe @mswaz would want to post the AD here and make someone happy!

I know I considered at a couple Army green and LR MT PROs with less than 1k miles as a part of my search... It was a more certain route to a 'live one' when I was lookng for the elusive Manual PRO - I actually never sat in a Manual PRO of any color until mine was delivered. (found one SINGLE Manual Off Road Taco that I test drove - AFTER I placed my order)

On the windows I just did legal tint. And clearbra on all leading edges. Bumper, Grill surround, A-pillars, mirrors, headlights, and front 1/3rd of the hood (also wrapped the tailgate)

Lol, legal tint. The only “legal” tint on the front windows in Alberta is no tint. I live in the sunniest city in Canada and can’t pass off my sensitive eyes as a legit reason for 35% tint on my front windows.
Your responses regarding the timeline on acquiring my new truck are not inspiring, only 14 manual lunar rock pros are allotted for Canada and my local dealership is pretty small potatoes so I might be SOL.

Gents, what are your thoughts on accent colors that will compliment Lunar Rock well? I feel like the color falls into a strange category that there isn't one obvious choice and I'm curious what others think...

My old dealer reached out - My original LR Manual Taco is still at least two months out from possible delivery...
I'll count myself lucky on stumbling onto, and snaggin one of these...

Hi Roof Walker; I agree that it is an odd one...
It depends on what the accent is about... What did you have in mind?

Black is a nice contrast - in general. If I did not like the wheels, I believe that the Ray10s in BLUE might look good... (would have to see at least a photoshop to confirm!).

Grey, like carbonized grey, and black. Ha. Not much else, in my opinion.

Ford has Fighter Jet Grey on the Mustang (Cactus Grey on Bronco and Ranger) that is close to the same colour. They've shown it with orange. It works well but orange would never go on any of my vehicles.
