    Well done sir!! Perfect ending.

A wise idea, if I'm that GM I'll be all about helping out and in return I reckon that earns a lifelong customer. That's the kind of thing that is the best advertising.

I would bet my truck that people from Toyota 100% saw this thread and that shitty salesman is on the hot seat. Remember “used car salesman” is a pejorative.

After listening to your engine running video I'm glad you got rid of it because there was something seriously wrong internally with that engine. At the very least there is something very off in the valvetrain or cams. Something is way loose.

I agree with you 100%. We all know that people make mistakes. Businesses make mistakes. It happens. We are all people after all.

I can't tell you how many times a business I do business with has messed up and that became a good opportunity to say look ... you screwed this up ... I get it ... we all make mistakes ... I am going to give you a chance to make it right ... and if you do ... I will reward you by being a regular and long term customer. Some people see a mistake and call their lawyer. I get it. They are angry. That's who we are as a society now. But I kind of view it as an opportunity.

If that GM is sincere ... and at this point ... we have to think he is ... he's willing to take the financial hit and correct the situation. If it is me, I discuss with him the opportunity to make money on another truck ... it certainly seems worth trying ... you never know.

My approach as a customer in this situation, big or small business, is to give a chance to make right. Ball in their court. I've loudly praised and condemned businesses all across the board based on that chance and what they did with it.

Update: Returned the truck today, they may good on their promise and I spoke to the sales manager. Also seems like he was unaware of the situation, and wanted to help. He called me after I left the dealership and said this isn't the way they do do business and doesn't want me to leave with a bad opinion about their dealership. He offered to find me a new 2021 Tacoma with the same payments that was agreed upon on the truck I returned. I am still set on a Tacoma so whether from that dealership or another, maybe I will have another one soon. They wanted the names of who I spoke to before they was made aware of the situation. Honestly don't think the dealership as a whole does shady business, they seem to have a good reputation from what I can see, and this would have been avoided if the higherups were aware. Maybe this thread can help someone else out if they find them selves in a similar situation. Go straight to the top. Again thanks everyone.

I would do this and see if they can add some options you didn't have; maybe bed lights, steps, etc. It seems like they want to do you right and they will probably treat your truck going forward better than they would someone else's. I think the probability of them screwing up again is lower than if you went someplace else at this point. Plus, it might be easier to finance from the same place with the same terms.

I'm sorry about your negative experience with the Taco, but I'm happy you were able to sort it out. Goodluck!

Right now is the perfect time to ask that sales manager to put a deal on the table that you can't refuse. I bet he will ...

I have been reading this thread for a few days and I am glad you were able to go to the top at the dealership and get this taken care of.
That video you posted of the engine running, boy that's really janky sounding. Not sure I'd keep that.

I would take the GM up on his offer to locate a new truck for you. I hope the situation continues to turn out for you.

I think this is your best option at the moment. Leverage some good will and if you can afford stretching you budget see if you can get into a brand new truck. IMHO you’ll be very happy.
It’s a shame you had to go through this. Sometimes dealing with the bottom feeders ends up in situations like this.

    Seize the moment!

Oh and yes, I watched your YouTube video. That’s not normal and I’d be quite upset at that pice of $hit.

I told him I would be interested cause I plan to find another Tacoma either way. He is supposed to give me a call tomorrow, said he is looking for one. If the deal is good enough I may stretch my budget and look at a TRD.

Glad you it worked out for you. Note, the Sales manager didn't say the same price, just the same payment. They just stretch it out from say 48 months to 60 or even 72. They always ask me "what do you want you your monthly payment to be?" I tell them "it don't work like that, lets talk out the door price". You may or may not be getting a great deal from them, shop around and good luck.
