Favorite Whiskey?

Nice to have a bit of Blanton's back on the shelf! Two liquor stores in town split a barrel that was allocated to one of the shops. It was nice to walk in and just see it up on the shelf. I was able to snag a bottle from both shops, just to help them each out a bit.

 

How much is a bottle of Blanton's costing all of you?
I see it often in my local store for $160, I feel like its a rip off, am I wrong?

You are right. 100% right. $160 is crazy money. Low retail is $60, but isn't something you see often. I think if you haven't had it then $80-$90 to try it once... Thing with Blanton's is is it's single barrel, so you could get an awesome bottle one time and a mediocre one next time. If you have Total Wine or BevMo check there often. All this is IMHO.

 

It’s a $65~ bottle from the distillery, so $160 is a total rip off. In the same price range, you can find things that are always available and just as good / better, depending on what you prefer.

$80-95 by me. I like it, just not that much to spend that. I only see it a few times a year, still grab it once in while.

 

started off with the kids picking my first pours they liked the green and red labels on the old forester bottles, then I pretty much ran the top shelf....having the rip10 now and then will finish with the new riff SiB, she’s been on my mind

Based on everyones replies, I’ll save my money until I find a cheaper bottle of Blanton’s.
Sad thing is, the Blanton’s sells at that price here. Maybe Total Wine will have it for less.

Just picked up a bottle of Jura-12 year.

 

Had some of this today too. After I made this, but with Larceny since I don’t have a non SP/non barrel proof/non toasted barrel Elijah Craig

 

Solid pick up. Never had the McKenna but have heard good things.

 

that is closer to the price around here but I really can't remember. I'll pay more attention next time I look at or pick on up.

 

how have you not had McKenna? Super delicious brown sugar bomb....it was better at $39.99, it I still stock it at $49

That McKenna 10 is tasty. Will definitely keep some bottles on hand

 

McKenna 10 year is real good. Even the cheap McKenna isn't bad for a handle around $20 especially if you add a splash of Ale 8.
