One thing that shocked me was when I found out about the nearly 30-year age difference between Charles Grodin and Bonnie Hunt, who play George and Alice Newton, respectively...

It’s 26 years to be exact; Grodin was born in 1935, and is effectively old enough to be the father of Hunt, who was born in 1961! The first movie was released in 1992 and is implied to take place in that, but it was actually filmed in 1991; Hunt would have been just thirty years old at the time, while Grodin was about 56!

This is proof that Hollywood makeup artists can do some amazing work!

The oldest child in the Newton family is daughter Ryce (played by Nichole Thom, who was born in 1978 and is implied to be 13-14 in the first movie, which is set in 1992; If this is the case, then George and Alice were both likely supposed to be 41 or 42 years of age in the first movie (and 42-43 in the second). In the second movie, Alice and George talk about how they were in college together; They likely met in college and this is further proof that they are supposed to be the same age.

Charles Grodin obviously had his hair died and got some makeup work done to make him look about fifteen years younger; Bonnie Hunt, on the other hand, is one of those actresses who was “ageless” for much of her career and was able to flawlessly pull off roles ranging from college student to middle-aged mom until fairly recently...

She’s almost 60 now and still looks pretty good in my opinion!

Charles Grodin was the host of his own show on CNBC; According to what I’ve read online, The Charles Grodin Show ran from 1995 to 1998, and this was when we lived in Pennsylvania the first time, so it was likely in 1995 but no later than the spring of 1996...

I was in the family room, watching the show with my parents; He was obviously not in character as George Newton and had untreated gray hair, so I didn’t recognize him. The first two Beethovens movies were only a few years old at the time, and I had seen the first one a couple times by then; As a result, I knew who Charles Grodin was, but the Charles Grodin I was familiar with was a brown-haired man in his forties. I was absolutely shocked when my parents told me that this talk show host with hair as gray as my grandparents’ was “the dad from Beethoven”!

Not from "our" Wal-mart. An exception, both my trucks, Dodge Ram & Taco, were ordered from the factory with oversized tires. I had the orig. window stickers & they did mount the size listed on the window sticker, even though the sticker in the door jam listed a smaller size.

Almost all of the feature-length movies I saw in theaters prior to about 1996 were animated/cartoon movies, mostly Disney...

The first Beethoven came out in theaters not even a month after my third birthday, and Beethoven’s 2nd hit theaters just over a month after my fourth birthday; I watched Beethoven for the first time, with my mom present, in about 1993 or 1994 and immediately loved it.

Jumanji was another one I did not see in the theater, and in fact did not see until I rented it on video a good three years after it came out; Of course, I did not know Bonnie Hunt as Bonnie Hunt, but simply as “The mom from Beethoven” :D

I also believe Bonnie Hunt played the mom in the Cheaper by the Dozen franchise; It was an attractive blonde actress with the last name Hunt, so that leaves two choices and I’m 99% sure it wasn’t the woman from Twister...

    I hate bureaucracy...

Having a base model Tacoma as a daily driver had a few perks, including the ability to get spare keys made at the hardware store ridiculously cheap. When I was still getting my truck serviced at the dealer, I never gave them one of my three primary keys but instead gave them the $2 Home Depot key, because I didn’t feel like detaching my key from my keyring or giving them one of the OEM keys.

One day when I went to pick the truck up following it’s annual state inspection, the valet misplaced the $2 duplicate key; I was impatient and could not have cared less about the the easily replaced duplicate key, and I started to get testy...

I had already paid for the services performed by the dealer and had someplace to be; I unclipped my keychain from my belt loop, showed them that I already had a key to my truck, and that I was going to just take my truck and go since I knew where they’d parked it.

The valet guy became incredibly upset and said that was I not allowed to take my truck yet because they had to pull it around and have video evidence on the security cameras that they had formally handed over the vehicle...

I uttered a few profanities under my breath and begrudgingly waited until the dingus found my keys.

    :annoyed:

    @rphillips

A similar situation occurred when I left something important in my truck (it was either my Garmin GPS or my sunglasses) after they’d already taken my truck back for service. I got into a shouting match with the valet because they would not bring my truck back unless I showed the stupid little paper tab I’d been given; I am notorious for losing these and it had never been an issue...

“It’s the silver regular cab Tacoma that you literally just saw me pull up in” was not a good enough excuse for this twatwaffle, and my offer to show him my driver’s license and the truck’s registration card to prove ownership once they brought my truck back out didn’t work either...

This angry back-and-forth continued until a manager intervened, took me at my word, and made the lower-level employee bring my truck around without having to show any proof of ownership.

This week is NOT a good week for me with regards to tires; After dodging a bullet (technically a nail) on earlier this week, and spending about four hours DoorDashing in Philly this afternoon without issue, I hit a curb while making a U-turn less than five miles from house...

Now I do need a new tire because there’s a small hole in the sidewall of the front right tire, and it only takes about ten to fifteen minutes for the TPMS light to come on after filling it up with air.

My mechanic is going to see if he can get me a new AT/3 by tomorrow, and if not he’s gonna put the original spare (that’s more than 11 years old and has never been used) on so I can still use the truck for DoorDash and other stuff until the new tire comes in.

Had to make a U-turn on County Line Road and hit the curb at just right angle; Maybe twenty minutes later, the TPMS light was on...

Sidewall is gouged, but it will hold air long enough for me to drive it to my mechanic; Not going change a tire in this brutal cold or subject a AAA employee to it when my mechanic will do it in his heated shop!
