So with the Pens GM resigning, is there any chance we see Crosby, Malkin, or Letang dealt in the next few years to start a rebuild?

 

Good question. Definitely not Crosby. The other two? Maybe. That may be why Rutherford resigned. Maybe ownership wanted to trade Malkin and/or Letang and Rutherford balked?

 

Come to think of it, trading Letang isn't a possibility any time soon with all the D men the Pens have out.

They can get rid of Malkin anytime. Should have 2 years ago. They will never deal Crosby.

Rooting for a team that hasn't won the Cup in generations does shake one's sense. Malkin may be over the hill, but Crosby would would help any team - who wants to win.

 

Not even when they won back to back Cups? That's a shame. Unless there are some Blackhawk fans here -or some old timers from Detroit, nobody could brag about that.

 

I just read a local article. The rumor in Pittsburgh is that Rutherford wanted to move Letang but ownership stopped it, so Rutherford resigned. Sometimes too much loyalty is bad for a franchise. Personally, I would move Letang in a quick minute. His play has fallen off significantly. I wonder if all those concussions have had an impact on him physically, or more importantly, psychologically.

 

It was nice to see Spezza get his first of the season last night. This Leafs team is something totally different than I'm used to. Teams come back on them, tie it up, and then the Leafs actually push back to get the two points. No crumbling so far. Hopefully they can keep that up.
