I agree that it would be convenient to have a flat surface to clear the latches. There is about a 3/4” difference in height between the L-track and the top of the latches. Rather that putting a spacer between the track and the Diamondback I would just bolt the spacer on top of the track when needed. These studs make it easy to attach anything you’d like.

I installed mine by myself too. Would've been easier with two though... not so much the weight but the bulkiness. The instructions said to install the middle section, rear section, then the front section. If I had it to do over again I'd install the middle then the front and then the rear section. Installing the front section before allows you to step up into the bed rather than standing/kneeling on the rear section.

This is how I assembled mine. Put the middle section a little bit rearward of the middle of the bed. Rest the front section "on edge" on the tailgate and step up. Then position the front section on the hinges. Finally, lower the front section into place. You can then jockey the subassembly forward to position it on the rails as you like. BUT, be sure to start with the middle section a little rearward of its final position, so when you lower the front panel, you don't risk smacking it into the cab.

Looks good. Any changes you would recommend? Did you use anything to seal the anchor bolts through the cover?
I'll be ordering a few pieces tonight for next weekend installation. Thanks for the inspiration.

I can’t think of anything I would do differently. I’m glad I chose the bare aluminum track. I’m sure black track looks better when new but I had black track in the bed of my last Tacoma and the paint didn’t hold up very well. I’m also glad I spent the time to add the c-channel under the track. I think that really stiffened the whole cover.

For sealing I used black silicone applied to the bottom of the track. That has worked very well.

The input on the black vs bare aluminum is solid advice... I didn't think about it getting scratched up and went with the bare aluminum. I I plan on using some aluminum channel as well. It'll give a nice place to mount a fire extinguisher shovel/flashlight/axe - rubber brackets or even add in a bit of elastic cord to stuff loose crap like jackets or the totes my wife insists I keep in my truck.

So we just recently had a bit of snow, about 8inches. Scraped all the snow off the truck yesterday and today its just raining. Decided to check inside bed and see if its wet and it is. I checked the weather seal and it's fine. I checked the locations where DB said to put silicone and I do not see any daylight. Based on the pictures, it appears some are coming from the bed railing since the water appaers to start a bit below the cover. At other locations like the bulk head, it looks to be at the top. I had my wife sit on top when I installed the cover so I think it should be locking tight. Any idea how water is getting in and solution to fix this? The truck gets parked outside on the driveway on an incline. Not sure if that matter.

Seems like condensation to me. If there was ice on the cover and it got a little warmer, it might have done that. It has done that to mine a few times.
To double check and make sure the seals are good. I would suggest getting inside, close it up, and have someone spray water all over it.

I didn't think about condensation. I'm going to wait until the storm is over and go to a self service car wash and check it out.

Now that it stopped raining, went out and opened each side of the cover to inspect. Beneath the weather seal, it is dry. Felt under around the interior edges of the bed and under the interior side of the bulk head, it was wet in those locations. Like you said CttAznRanger, could just be condensation. But then again, it be water seeping under somehow. Just need some dry weather to verify everything so it won't be for a while.

Mine leaks like that. Never amounts to much water so I never worry about it too much.

Mine leaks like that too. It is not condensation. My truck can be parked all day when it's raining and when I come out and open the tailgate it will look like that all the way around. DB seals around the edges seem fine. Haven't figured it out yet but it sucks.

Well, seems like we need to do some investigation.

I'll have to do some testing on mine with a hose to see if it leaks like that.

In the meantime, not much we can do until warmer weather, unless anyone else has some ideas.

The only thing that mentions is adding weight to the corners while you adjust it, but you already did that.
Maybe the seals don't end up at the corners like they are supposed to or something. Like they mentioned, calling DB CS is probably a good bet.

Hmm maybe I'm confusing that link with another forum. I thought I read somewhere that sometimes, overtightening of the clamps cause the bed cap to deform and water could get down there. The original poster was having issues with water coming in near the center panel. I wonder if water is getting under the bed cap and causing the leak.

That might be it. I unfortunately over-tightened my clamps, but I haven't seen any issues yet.
