I don’t think Pros ever came with the tube steps. The roof rack really isn’t that much of a selling feature. Especially when most people throw on a Prinsu or upTOP rack anyway.

I agree with most in that the only real problem with the Pro is that you are buying the nameplate. It’s how dealers tack on markups. All the stuff (with the exception of the hood scoop and Fox suspension) can be had on a OR. Same motor, same features, same tires.

Case in point: I bought my King suspension (much better than the Pro shocks IMO) for about $2000. The crawl control is the same and interior look exactly the same (minus the Pro headrests). Sprinkle in some MESO mods and it looks legit better than anything from the factory no matter what trim level you have.

If I had $50k, I would opt for the 2021. It makes more economic since from what is a better deal stand point. However, that may not be true for your financial situation. $9k will likely add $250 a month to your payments depending on how long you finance it. That extra amount may also force you into a longer financing situation which will ultimately cost you more money. Now you will likely find that you can get a better interest rate on the new vehicle vs used. That is a plus. If you can swing the higher payments and are not doing so at the expense of carrying a larger credit card bill because you don't have the extra $250 to put towards it, by all means, get the 2021. However there is nothing wrong with saving your money now so that when you get older, you have more.

Again - thanks for all the input. After hearing feedback from everyone, I'm going to go with ordering a new 2021 TRD Pro Lunar Rock. I'll be selling my Explorer and paying cash for the rest of the purchase so I won't have any payments. I figured that with the resale values of these I would be further off to buy new to get the warranty and heck have a brand new ride. Will take a couple months to get it, but I'll post pics once I get it.

    Good choice. Wo
Very true. Like others have mentioned if Toyota does decide to release the other colors in later years I still wouldn’t worry. It’s still a Pro and hold its value.

    Congrats on the decision.

I worked for a trim shop in HS and can second your comment. I don't know what they were thinking giving the keys to $100k Mercedes to a kid.

Most of our clients were Oakland Raiders. NSX and Legends were their choice of vehicle. Lot of fun getting full tank of gas on the highway onramps

Karma sucks I suppose. The lot porter for my 21 DCLB, triggered 2 trip of harsh cornering and 1 harsh braking on my Toyota APP that I received notification for. Figured it was 2 miles total. My truck will be fine :D

Just to put your mind at ease, the APP is really sensitive to cornering and braking. I'm a relatively easy driver and just taking the normal off and onramps here in PA gave me harsh cornering and braking alerts. And, it also didn't like when I accelerated onto the highway - we have short ramps here so you have to hit it a bit to be able to blend in at normal speeds.

Relax. Your truck will be just fine!!

haha I am sure it will be fine :)

funny thing is dealer drove it total 4 miles (they have two dealership, where its dropped off, and then PDI at diff locations). 2 mile factory +4 for them = 6 miles.

    No harsh acceleration was detected.

Its got a camry motor and its a truck. It won't have the nicest life when it gets to me haha :D :D I will be putting it to hard work.

I'd definitely get the '21. Which dealer you working with? From the same general area, got a new Pro the last weekend of '19. Was able to score $2600 off list for the base Pro then added the accessories we wanted after. I imagine it is a lot different negotiating these days as the dealer can't keep anything in stock. Multiple Pros on the lot back when we got ours.

I have a '17 OR and LOVE IT!
If you want leather then go for the PRO model. IMO I wouldn't get the spray in bedliner though. Instead, spend $400 and get the Bedrug and covers the bed, the sides, and the tailgate. Fantastic option! https://bedrug.com/

Rohrich Toyota. They seem to have the best price. Any other dealer near Pittsburgh won't budge off MSRP.

Decided not to go with the spray in bedliner - plan on getting an OEM bedmat or something simliar. What's everyone running for running boards? Torn between the predator steps and the cast aluminum running boards. Like I said not considering sliders as I won't be doing any major offroading with the vehicle so can't justify the price.

I think both vehicles are $6k to $9k over priced.

Also, coming from a full size, the Tacoma is a very sedan like seat.

Have you spent any time in one to get the feel for it?
