The 98 was tight when I got it but as I started driving it like I do it loosened up

Yeah I dunno, basically the same platform aside from the rear suspension as far as I know...and some minor differences here and there. I don't think the 4runners had quite the same issue with rust that the Tacomas did either. I always just figured the slightly better build quality came from them being assembled in Japan

 

My tacoma had less wander compared to either of my runners... But I did replace every bushing with poly and it had a splined steering shaft vs a hex shaft

It's really the same for the front end

Looks like it was abandoned in a wash

 

Heavier for sure though, stock for stock.

I'd love to get a slightly larger tank if I ever do the fuel tank relocation mod.
