When you come in hot...

This is what happens when you attempt to keep up with an experienced rider on a SM. He came into the corner way too hot and said he lost his view of the turn and came out of his lean...locked up the brakes just missing the sign to his left, into the dirt and the bike hit a pile of rocks just before the pavement of the parking lot. The bike jumped the pile of rocks going airborne and the wet spot on the pavement is where he said the bike landed. 2 flat tires, busted fairings, bent bars, busted headlights/signals, road rash on his lid as well as himself. At least he walked away from it with minor scratches, and the bike was repaired.

 

Helmet sure did it's job.

 

i seen a rider and bike go down on deals gap. man was it scary. luckily he just got some bruised ribs and back.

There are 2 types of riders
Those who have gone down
and
Those who are going to go down.

I've been down. Cartwheeled my gsxr600 at about 75. Smashed the bike up pretty good. Broke some ribs. Thankfully I had gear on or I wouldn't be typing this. I refuse to leave the driveway without helmet, gloves, jacket, and boots. Usually back protector n earplugs too. I wear my suit bout half the time. I've had people ask "isn't that really hot to wear?" My reply is "id rather sweat than bleed!" I like watchin jackasses with no helmets or even jeans for that matter. apparently they're really tough!

 

Don't mean to hijack this but I went down racing my duck at Laconia NH. If it wasn't for my leathers I would be here either. Kept my internals inside.

I do not believe in helmet laws however, I think it should be an individual choice. Some argue that the hospital bills associated with injuries related to a non-helmet rider justify the law. That is a problem with health care not with individual choice.

I used to have a drz 400 sm and now jumped up to a 08 cbr 600rr. I miss it for ripping into turns with. Does he plan on rebuilding the rr? Atleast he walked away ok!

 

I completely agree...its just a matter of time. Something will happen...Im lucky to even be here. I wrecked a gsxr, a dumbass cut me off and stopped to make a turn and I was doing 55 and well I ened up in front of the car that cut me off and my bike was under his car. Lots of broken everything...on me and the bike.

I live 30 mins from the famous dragon (deals gap) and I hear of or see bikes wrecking all the time and its usually the idiot not knowing how to ride or even a car hanging a turn and hitting a bike head on. WAY to dangerous of a place to ride the twisties. Just go and enjoy it

 

We can back it in too. Just not with our knee on the ground and the bike completely crossed up

 

He did rebuild the bike....and then about 3 months after he rebuilt it, he went down again. This time riding out on the west side of town, idiot again came into a turn way too hot and blew right through it. Only problem this time was that as he blew the turn he then launched off a 23 ft cliff and when he landed it was in a shitload of soft thorny cactus. Last I heard dude was still at a rehab facility trying to work things out.

 

Sounds like this guy needs to wear a helmet 24/7. Not to stir the pot, BUT if he would slow his ass down some he wouldn't be tearing up his bike and gear so bad. He sounds like he likes to push the envelope; which is fine, he just needs to do it on a closed course - not the roads. It makes the rest of us look like idiots and asses. I can do that all on my own, thank you very much.

 

Sounds like he doesn't need to be riding, or he needs to get a more agile bike!
