Head shot, gut, and let the vermin and scavengers do the rest. Circle of life.

Yeah i called in a moose looked like it was injured by side of the highway, they said they didnt care if it was hobbling on 3 legs so long as it wasnt in traffic. But oh if you called in a poacher they'd have all fish and game people, fbi, swat and state police on you

We used to tend some hay land behind a development, found a doe and a fawn both dead from bow and arrow laying side by side. Could see the entrance on both. I called the N.C. wildlife, they said unless you saw it nothing we can do. I said don't you want to come see them and knock on some doors? Nope. Nothing.

Im not too fond of their practices like that...it makes you wonder what their priority really is?

I would have, but it is in the city limits and houses all around. I told my wife we should go back and get my “quiet” 22, let her drive by and I’d take care of it. If it was in my yard, it would be munching alfalfa in the big fields above.

I called this one in due to CWD concerns specific to the small heard that hangs out on the property we were working. The project was within city limits / not like the wildlife manager needed to go out of there way to the middle of the mountains to take a look. Again, I was probably more upset than needed to be at that time, but was pretty bullshit getting on site at 0530 every morning and seeing that sad sucker still hanging on.

All these stories remind me of how brutal nature really is. People against hunting always say they don’t know how deer die, if not by hunter, when I ask them. Never think about disease, starvation and injury. It’s always the mean ol hunter.

If I would’ve been caught helping the deer, I would’ve lost a car, my gun, license, etc. But I still wish I could of helped it. I still feel bad for it.

5lbs of ground Elk Jerky came out of the dehydrator this morning. Skinny pieces came out over done. I’d say 80% came out great. 20% just a tad over done. Oh well. Live and learn. Now to package when I get home!

Looks tasty! I have to watch our dehydrator, some gets done before others and there's usually about an hour difference, just depends on where it is in the dehydrator.
