Not true. Anyone holding ITM options at close has to have cash in their account to execute the contract. So, if I have a $320 call I need to have $32000 in my account. Let's say GME closes at $325. I think Im going to get those shares Saturday AM. After hours closes with GME at $319.99. Guess what. I don't get the shares and my option expires worthless. So intent is one thing. Execution is another.

Just so you know. I'm still sweating and shaky, and also a nervous wreck. I'd trade a freeclimbing fall scare for this.

One of the smartest things my father got me to do was to start slowly putting money away into investments (mutual funds and such) when I was young, as well as ensuring I was putting money into my work retirement account. Not a lot, but always something, always capturing at least every penny of employer 401k matching funds or similar.

Couple this with being conservative in my spending, and the result is a great deal of calm -- when I'm eventually ready to do so, I know I'll be able to retire comfortably.

so you have to exercise between close and AH close if you want to avoid that? Or just exercise as soon as youre ITM if thats your goal then?

Also, if people really want to see the ins and outs of options this is the place. The OCC is a the only clearing house for options in the US. Meaning they see every contract written on every stock for all US exchanges.

If you want to assure you get the shares you have to manually exercise the contract. You can do that at any time up until 1 hour before close. After that they get handed off to the OCC and they will automatically exercise any option that's .01¢ in the money.

Be interesting to see if the shorts do a late push AH to get the price down, and what response there may be.
