1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

I’m hoping one comes up eventually with frame rot. I want to do a 4.7l swap in one. Or a twin turbo V6 out of the ls500 (and soon new tundra)

 

The dealer where I grew up took over 10 months to do a frame swap. This was in 2016 on a 2002 access cab. They'd never done one before and the guy got to keep a 5th gen 4Runner rental the whole time.

 

A lot of the wait time is also just waiting for the parts. My frame took 2 months to show. Some take up to 8 months depending on what it is.

 

new frame my cost is less than 3 grand. so if the body straight its definetly worth it for me.. I'd do the full shebang.. 4.7 swap with a r150f, and a full 3rd gen interior swap..

 

This is in a pickup but after watching the video I did some searching. Seeing a decent bit of 2UZ swap parts are coming on the market. R150F + 2UZ would be a fun combo. I've mostly seen swaps into automatic trucks.

the bellhousing is out there now to bolt the r150 up. 2uz aftermarket has been decent because of the 1 and 3 uz motors. Supra guys are swapping them in mk 4 supras

 

Yeah and motor mounts for a Taco/4Runner are out. Wiring harnesses as well. Expensive but at least they exist.

@Blue92 have you taken the inside cover off that hides the nuts on the side view mirror on your 2nd gen?

Trying to see if I can make 2nd gen mirrors fit the truck
