Yep, I have plenty of travel for my truck for what it is. I don't see the need to have a lot of travel in the rear and limited on the front. You have to get the front through where you are going before the rear. If you go long travel in the front then I can see addressing the rear. That is why I enjoy my Samurai it is easy to change and the front and back are the same.

Have you seen the rear linked Tacomas with ifs? It’s pretty crazy how much stability you can get with that much travel, even just in the rear.

definitely easier to play around with your samurai though

I’d like something I could drive to the trails, not have to trailer. Not daily driver, but decent on the road, too. I don’t know of any places to go fast around here, so crawling would be ideal. I don’t mind taking my time and playing around to figure out link geometry and all that. I never finished my engineering degree, but I could probably manage most things between that and the interwebs. Would be exciting to learn more.

I have drove a rear linked Tacoma, it is for sure better but the front still limits where you can go.

I have considered putting a solid axle under the Tacoma I drive now.

Yeah I’ve seen some of those. I’d want to know more of the theory behind it before trusting a calculator though. It’s not an area I’m familiar with. But there’s plenty of time to look, drool and research before this idea becomes a reality.

oh absolutely it is limited by the ifs.

Doing a sas would be worth doing to yours at this point. And it would be a fun project

I hear ya. I’m excited to see it stretched

Im wanting to do more than my Tacoma will allow and that I’m willing to do to it. Think it’s time to build a real toy.

I’m doing 12” rear kings, gusseting everything I can, and building a front bumper soon. I’ll need another project after that

I like my Tacoma the way it is, I can ride with anyone with a similar setup with no problem so it will be my long distance drive ride truck and the others will be trailered rigs.

Yes you always need a project, lol

Man so much $$$ spent lol. Tacoma almost where I’m gonna let it sit at for a while outside of little mods like shift nobs and frue frue stuff. When tax returns and stimulus money comes in gonna buy new wheels and tires most likely and get some new OEM lowers and tie rod ends.

really want a 4Runner but that’s not coming until I’m done paying the Corolla which is about another year.

Oh man, if I had not had a welder the Samurai would have not been possible nor could I have afforded to get someone to do all the welding.
When I got the Toyota axles everything was stripped out. New spring hangers and perches, new shock mounts and relocated, I cut the knuckles off and rotated them, changed the drive shaft angles several times, made axle trusses, made transmission and transfer case mounting points out of 1/4 inch, new tunnel for the automatic transmission, welded up inside cage, front shock towers, bump stops and a lot of little things. Could not imagine getting some one to do the welding.

Then look at 4wheel underground for one of their kits once you figure out what yota you want. The video Jeff posted is a good start there are more in that series that will help too.
