Hey all, I need to hear some people's experience with this- I found a great deal on pro comp 7033 wheels at 4wheelpartsonline. They are 17x9, 4.75" backspacing and -6mm offset. I am concerned that because I don't have the lift the decrease in backspacing and offset may cause the tire to rub on the inner fenderwell. I have the stock 265/65/17 size right now, but will be going to 265/70/17 in the near future. Can anyone offer some advice?

I had a set of wheels with 4.5" backspacing put on with stock tires and had no trouble with rubbing at all. When I upgraded to the 265/70/17 duratracs I did experience some mild rubbing until I lifted the front. I hope this helps!

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
You're stock BS is 5.5" IIRC. Moving to 4.75" is good, plus then size you are moving to is roughly the same you are running now. You'll be fine.

I have FJ SE wheels with 4.5 backspacing and i think either 10 or 15 mm offset and 265/75/R16 bfg a/t ko and don't have a problem but I also had 5100s put on to level the truck at the same time they were put on. From what I've read 4.5 backspacing is good, I don't think you would have a problem with .25" of backspacing difference.

Thanks for the responses. One more thing- these wheels are only available in a 9" width, id get 8" if they made them that way, but does anyone have a 9" wide wheel with a 265 section width tire? 265mm=10.43 inches, so a rough difference of 1.5". How does that look???

not trying to thread jack...figure the op may want to know this. do you have to run higher pressure for even wear? did you have to remove your mudflaps or just choose to?

To be honest I can't even remember what I ran my stock tires at. I run these at around 32 psi and they are wearing evenly.

They did not rub on the flaps...I just don't like the look of mud flaps.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I have a set of 7033's on the way now :D I started another thread in the deals and coupons area, but so you all know pro comp is having a buy 3 get one free deal until 12/31 on 4 styles of wheels. 4wheelonline also has them like $40 off each on top of that. I got the set shipped for $419

+10 mm offset, which is approx 5.4" BS on a 9" wide wheel.

guess that's why you didn't rub before your lift. I imagine mine will. I have become kind of disappointed with the 9" width. I can't find a single 265 mud tire that is approved for a 9" wheel. They seem to max out at 8.5". All of the all terrains in 265 are ok for 9" width though. I was planning on getting the hankooks like you have anyway because I don't want to destroy my gas mileage, road noise, tire life, and unsprung weight, but with an 8" wheel at least I could change over to a mud tire later if I wanted. Though I really on see considerable mud 3 or so times a year :mudding:

The fact that I have to deal with finding the right hub rings and lug nuts is a pain too.

If you are still talking about the 4.75" bs wheels, that will actually DECREASE your chance of rubbing in comparison with my 5.4" BS.

It would decrease my chance of rubbing on the UCA, but wouldn't it increase my chance of rubbing on the inner fender well and mudflap? The lower backspacing pushes the wheel out farther from the truck so while turning, there would be less clearance between the shoulder of the tire and the inner fender nub and mudflap, right?

Hell, I fit 285/60/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers on 18x9 rims with -12 offset (4.5 inch backspace), I have no lift, and no rubbing. So I imagine 265 will be easy.

Correct, but 4.75 does not push the wheel out far enough for this to be an issue.

A lot of people run 4.5" bs on here with no issues.

You can even run 285's with 4.5" bs if you have a 3" lift.

Or, as I just posted, you can even run 285's without a lift if you go 285/60/18 :D

Ha I was just about to edit my post to clarify that when I said 285's, I really meant 33's. That would be 285/65/18.

You're the only one I know of running 285's that are 32's.

Can you stuff the wheels to full suspension compression at full lock without rubbing?

Did you see your MPG go through the floor when you got 285's?

At full lock, with the stock suspension flexed out, it does rub a bit on the interior of the wheel wells, but thats the only time.

The MPG did pretty much go through the floor. I was getting about 18 city/21 highway with the stock prerunner 245 dunlops. Now, I get 15.5 mpg City, 16 highway.
