Kinda. It should be handy for holding the wheel still while you work but other than that, not much. It really wasn’t too hard per say, just tedious getting the bolts tightened down and torqued perfectly.

Is side loading the tire a common occurrence when driving through mall parking lots?

I didn’t use any power tools when tightening since it’s so critical. Plus grade 8 bolts threading into aluminum so gotta be careful.

Just had someone tell me that my truck would fail inspection because I had my roof lights uncovered, does anyone know if clear lens, clear reflectors and non-working lights get inspected? He said the law changed in January of last year. But it looks the same as the last time I read it.

I actually almost failed inspection last time because of my fogs not working. Said if they are installed they have to work. Luckily it was a lose wire.

Yeah my fogs work, and they're sae-f. Every other time I've been inspected if my Offroad lights don't work, and they're clear lenses...then they don't count. We'll find out. I'm currently waiting in line at another garage. I'll ask them before they start. I've had this discussion with other inspectors before. It's frustrating that they all aren't on the same page.

It's not the page that's a problem, it's the reading comprehension. Hell, I looked at the manual and it didn't make sense. You read the first sentence and it seems you're fine. The second sentence somewhat contradicts it.

I will say that most of the time they should be covered. At least according to the inspectors. I cover my ditch and bumper light bar every time and they've even made comment about it. So there's that.

Also, there used to be a trim level of the oldish Jeep Renegade that included off-road lights on the roof. They came with covers. As in they couldn't sell them without it.

That's a Federal thing, but the safety inspections are based off them things.

I imagine if you have a level-headed conversation with the inspector he might see it your way.

Haha. Heep wasn't the target. The hunk of steel is from one of the targets that violently disassembled itself when the penetrator hits, and the chunks have been flying farther than normal. I even moved after the first day. I normally park area but more inline with where the plate started.
