yes I was trying to proactively avoid that by making the comparison to my 2005 GMC crew cab 6L.......which I should have probably added made the exact same trip with similar warmup method.

Fuel, yes. I let mine warm up ... Cuz I need the windshield defrosted and I want hot air blowing on my geezer feet when I get in the cab. It's just a personal thing ... LOL!

That's what I always read too, no more than a couple minutes warm up on modern vehicles. I have a buddy that swears you need to let it warm up for 10 minutes so the engine and transmission oil is warm.

yes my 2021 auto-shuts off after 10min but I believe the guys here are correct I think a big problem for me is using fuel in warmup with no kms to show for it and the short drives.....can’t do much about the short drives though. I’m ok with not commuting :D
    Commuting makes me crazy

    warm up is NOT necessary

my RAV would warm up at 25-35 mph in less than 2 miles

    my 4cylinder auto same !!!!!!!

the scan gauge I run real time ......ALL the time gives me REAL time radiator temps

NO One suggest cranking then bolting like its stop lite GTO drag racing

most live residential..........that short jaunt at legal speed until U have to join the rat race

    is enuf warm up

ya I had no idea either. My 2021 sport does a couple things I was unaware of.
Like when turning left or right if I toggle the signal arm once, like not actually switch it, the signal comes on for 3 flashes. I guess for lane changes?
Not sure if other year models do that but thought it was nifty

My turn signal behaves the same way, I do not have remote start on my SR5.

Checking out that ScanGauge, looks pretty cool. Thanks for linking that @ROAD DOG

    Haha!

Yeah, all it needs like a min max. Gentle driving is the best way to warm up your engine.

Yep a lot of vehicles after about 2000 have that feature. I changed mine to 5 blinks with Techstream. My 2013 chev savanna has the 3 blink feature as well.

    let me take a minute

idling is almost the worst thing to do to ANY engine

the range the engine is running is is NOT Useful..................the MOST Inefficient range

seconds into running hot or cold the oil pump like Ur heart has provided the CORRECT lubrication to the crank

IF NOT U are screwed anyways !!!!!!!

the oil hot or cold is supposed to be between everything associated with the crank................if NOT Ur screwed

where the detriment takes place is at the rings

the rings operate at a very different TEMP at idle................actually NOT very well

resulting in “ BLOW BY ‘.................the actual automotive nomenclature
extended idle only makes it WORSE !!

then rolling at say 35-40 mph................. actually totally different TEMP range

******* ALTHO THAT TEMP GAUGE ON DASH STAYS IN THE MIDDLE STRAIGHT UP !!!

the engine is designed to run WIDE OPEN so lower speeds actually are of no benefit

cant tell it actually runs better at elevated hiway speeds ??????

    the TEMPS at Idle

    slow residential speeds

    moderate hiway

honkin / gettin on down the road are decidedly different / wide spread

the engine runs best near TORQUE Peak........................NOwheres near idle or slow bump/grind type driving

if an engine aint running correctly at high torque.........................PARK IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually dash info is very accurate. Its within .1-.2 mpg. I hand calculate every fill up.
