Not sure what reality you are speaking of, but i hand calculate my fuel mileage every fill up and my dash read out is pretty much bang on. I use a calculator, yes.

A lot of others have the same experience with the dash info.

no less I mentioned an apparent flaw most ( not ALL) systems dont account

for gas returned to tank on EFI systems

I question my dash accuracy too. Even if I am not warming up idling I fill up and my dash tells me I should be able to go ~540kms however I have not been able to get much over 400kms on that tank.

The "kms left to empty"could be weird yes. I never use that info, i was referring to average tank fuel economy, which is very accurate.

Also, i could easily get 500 km out of the tank on winter gas. 400 gets me to a quarter.

You’re letting it idle for ten minutes every time you drive and are driving super short distances in cold weather with winter gas.

Wait until Spring and go on a road trip down some back highways going 55-65. You’ll feel like it’s a miracle

Wheels, cap, running boards, vent shades, bug deflector. 8/31/2020 Tinted the driver compartment windows and strip across the windshield. What a difference.
Do you realize how much gas your burning doing nothing ie warming up. No need for warm up. With the short drive time to work, you'll need to to make a road trip weekly or put a trickle charger on the battery.

Take all aftermarket stuff off. All of it.
    Do not warm up.
This will add 20%. Short trips? Nothing can be done for that.
Summer driving will yield about 5% improvement.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Dude what do you expect with your driving/operating habits?
Folks are correct in that the Winter fuel blend does provide peak fuel mileage, but consider:
    - How much fuel do you think you burn by letting it warm up every morning? I'd guess about 1/2 gallon or so, and you haven't traveled ANY distance. With the fuel you've burned warming up you could have driven 10-12 km.
    - You drive 2 miles to work after that - your truck is no where near peak efficiency.
    - Have you actually calculated your fuel mileage or are you relying on the truck's numbers?
    - Have you considered the TOTAL weight you've added with your mods?

I own a stock 2021 TRD OR AC with just under 1,000 miles on it.
    My last 3 mileage calculations are: 15.0, 16.6 & 17.8 MPG
    To put that in your terms, it's: 15.7L/100km, 14.2L/100km & 13.2L/100km.
Your problem lies with a combination of your mods and your driving/operating habits and not with the Taco.

This is one of those things that will be debated till the End Days.
Some say that you can fire yer engine up and just blast off. Others will swear by the 'You have to let the oil heat up .. Cold oil has no real lubricating properties ... Etc.'
MMMMMmmmmm .... Maybe with new synthetic oils, cold starts/running may not be such a thing anymore. I have no idea or facts to say one way or the other.
OTOH, I still like the engine/tranny warm up a bit before taking off. But that's just cuz I like having the cab warm before going anywhere. Just a 'me' thing. I guess only time will tell..
