Does that machine get a static charge that holds fine dust ? I've had a few machines that tend to do that

 

We have had some nice weather today so decide to take the lathe out and play around. Just a little set up to make it mobile.

Decided to turn some scraps in to pen blanks.

Came out with these.

Then figured I would do some simple laminated ones when they exploded while trying to drill them.

I really need to clean up my big shop. Stuff is scattered all over. Not proud but life gets in the way sometimes.

 

I went with the Grizzly version. If it is anything like it, you will love it. My table saw was too heavy to move around.

 

have you ever ripped styrofoam on a tablesaw ? Thats the worst , that shit clings to every surface including your clothes and skin

 

I always have a few sheets of XPS (blue) styro on site when we're framing to rip and insert in cavities that would be difficult or impossible to insulate later , not only is it horrible for clingy 'dust' , its the scariest thing I cut on a tablesaw , it grabs and kicks back easily with any contortion of the sheet , if feed rate is too slow it can melt to the blade and bind , its nasty shit . I don't let the inexperienced guys cut it .

I need to get an upright bandsaw b/c the tabletop version is a joke. I can’t keep the tires/blades from jumping sheave. Looks like yours is great as in Grizzly. What do you have?

 

Is it not easier to use a straight edge and utility knife to cut this? That’s the only way I have ever done it.

 

I just discovered there is an actual foam blade for tablesaws after 20 years lol , just got one a couple weeks ago , still in the package , will try it out next job

Oh wow, I was thinking 3/4” and 1”. Didn’t even think about how thick it would be for you region.

 

code for under a slab here is R-12 which is 2 1/2" in XPS or 3" in EPS , we usually have that thickness on hand during framing as sheets or cut offs from the slab prep

 

I put 3” foam in the roof assembly for the chicken coop. I used a table saw with a shop vac hooked up, still made a mess.

 

No codes for insulation under the slabs here. But it rarely gets below 40*F. Just percolation test, compaction, sand, polyethylene, screen, and rebar then pour the concrete. I promise your area is way ahead of the curve compared to the jokers around here.
When we built our house, I made a 30” mound after compaction and let it sit for 2 years before breaking ground. Been here for 22 years and have not had a foundation problem as of yet. Hopefully I never will. The top of my slab is 24” high the my neighbors. Just wanted to make sure we didn’t have a problem with a 100 year flood.
