This is a pretty good description of my use case as well as my truck is my DD. Maybe adjust those percentages a bit but nothing I think I need E-rated rubber for. I think the OC AT3's will work great.

Just read a bit about the Chinese Wall. Never knew that climbing/hiking mecca existed there. I do a bit of those activities as well and now have that area on my radar for future trips. Thanks for mentioning it.

The closest I got to that area on my moto last fall was near Challis and this is the only photo I took looking towards the south over hwy 75 from near Challis in the direction of the Chinese wall. It was near 100F on that day.

I mean, that looks incredibly amazing...

The Bob Marshall wilderness area in Montana is some pretty amazing terrain from what I understand and it's a must see if you ever find yourself in that part of the country. Kinda hoping to get up there, establish a base camp with the truck somewhere out in the bush, and venture out from there.

Can someone recommend a 33" tire that fits on the stock wheels (2021 OR) what I am looking for is a tire that isn't too much heavier than the current combo AND I will be doing some off roading with it but only a few times a year. I live in Michigan and its my DD. A 2" lift is being installed this weekend. I've been reading your comments but I don't understand a lot of the technical talk but I do have some experience buying tires for my BMW - always looking for the best performance. TIA

Some of the best and most scenic parts of the nation exist up in that area.

Have been through that area many times along with climbing, backpacking and fishing most of Glacier National Park. We started our ride on motos last year out of Missoula and headed north up along the west side of Glacier Park via wilderness and dirt trails to Kalispell (this is right near the northwest boundary of Bob Marshall). There is lots of Native American res land in that area. Lots of Grizzlies frequent that area also.

We then followed up along the Glacier west border to near the Canadian border and camped along side the North fork Flathead River. We then headed further west the next day into northern Idaho via Yaak, MT.

Camped along side the North Fork Flathead. That river forms the western boundary of Glacier National Park, We wanted to stay on the other side in the park but due to Covid there was no access to that part of the park last fall. (never knew this thread would go beyond wheel/tire weight)..

What stock wheel size does your Taco have? 16" or 17"

Are you planning on just using your Taco in MI or will you use it on other types of terrain?

From my experience up in the UP on my moto,, there can be lots of sand where you would need to stay on top with a Taco to avoid getting stuck..

I'd go to Tirerack and check out some of the lightweight tires mentioned in this thread to find what my suit your needs. That website has a multitude of specs that can be used to compare various tires in
    what ever size you want.

I've been all over CO and UT, including the Moab area, multiple times with over thousands of dirt miles aired down and never had any problem with the Michelin Defenders.

Interestingly, this truck is not my DD. I just like to travel all over the region in search of great spots, and the reality of that means lots of miles on asphalt before getting to the good stuff. I think many dedicated off-roaders may underestimate how much time and distance they actually travel on-road...though I suppose there are plenty of folks who have the "good stuff" pretty much in their back yard.

I like TireSize.com as well. And I also highly recommend wading through the 180 pages of https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-skinny-on-skinny-tires.529656/page-179#post-25041980. It starts out kind of arcane, but by the time you are half way through all the lingo will start to gel, and by the end, you should have a grasp of the various trade-offs involved.

Anyone have examples of a 265 tire on an 8.5" wheel? Wondering if that's going to be too much wheel width and if I should go with the 17x7 TRD Pro SEMA wheels over the Method 703's I'm currently planning for.

Guess I hadn't responded to this but these are some awesome pictures. It urged me to hit the local Craiglist for Husky's... So thanks for that :bikewhoops:
