If you upgrade to an AGM battery, the increased voltage is another added plus too.

 

My 2006 Access cab is power switched.

 

just ordered Flosser 100/90w H4 12v on Amazon for $8/ea to try it out

and am going to see about getting a Headlight Services harness
am guessing the correct one is power-switched for '08 double cab
but will see if I can check

I haven’t tested the Flossers. Flosser does not publish any specs as to output or bulb life, so you cannot even compare specs.

 

You actually get better gains from the mod in those old cars by cutting larger voltage losses from running power through the in cab switch. Its almost like I used to be into Euro cars and had read this before doing it on a more 'modern' Toyota pickup, the first being my 89.

Those were the best prices I found at the time. Google search by part number to try and find better pricing.

 

So, just researching and thinking. It’s just going to be flat worth it to go oem. Capa may work, but the “may” part makes the pulling trigger part harder. The scatter is something I don’t want especially with the power it’s going to be putting out. No blinding other drivers and a solid beam is a must. Especially with Colorado’s dark ass winters.

So, probably gonna pull the trigger on the 04210s posted but as soon as I google those, the oodles of different part numbers for that popped up amazed me

Agreed on the philosophy behind choosing to go OEM.

As to the part numbers, there are 2 different part numbers for the exact same assembly, one is 'fully loaded' with replacement bulbs, and the other comes with no bulbs. Then you have TSB vs non-TSB, and bright chrome vs smoked chrome. The part numbers listed in the original thread are the TSB smoke chrome without bulbs.

 

Ahhh. So they just said let’s just keep is simple and go to one. Even though they’re just as pricey! But, still. Ain’t nothing gonna beat oem. My 11 year old tail lights still look brand new.....

 

So I have a parts guy telling me these parts 81110-04210 and

81150-04210 are not the correct headlight for my 2010 and saying the 04173 are?

I thought the 04210s replaced the 04173s for the TSB?

Well, I've got some long term thoughts on my selective yellow osrams.

In the pic, left bulb (upright) was in the driver side headlamp, right bulb was in my passenger side. Both are showing cracking/flaking of the glare cap material, driver side perhaps sees a bit more voltage being right there at the battery, so its worse for wear. The envelope has become opaque/started to melt directly above the lowbeam filament on both. I had noticed some apparent dimming throughout the beam, although most of my driving has been in an urban area for the past few months. I got tagged by a state trooper about a week ago who commented that I couldn't have yellow headlights, so I changed them out last night and found the root of my apparent decrease in lowbeam performance. Highbeam did not seem negatively effected.

I did get to drive through some (very) heavy fog recently with them, at night on a divided highway and some backroads/logging trails. I was happy with the clear visibility difference between my yellow headlights and other vehicles I drove with/past. On my own this improved visibility was not apparent, but driving next to or passing other vehicles in the fog, it was clear (as it has been in the past) that yellow really is the superior color choice for foul weather. And I appreciate the different look (even with the additional police attention it can bring).

I don't believe crash's testing of these in his 2nd gen showed any color spectrum change between lowbeam and highbeam. I don't know if its just a result of the offset placement of the lowbeam filament, but there seemed to be a pretty noticable shift from "nearly amber" lowbeam to a clearly yellow highbeam.

Due to the way these arrived to me, sleeved in foam, I had installed these after carefully wiping down the exterior of each bulb with rubbing alcohol and a clean lint free cloth, while wearing nitrile gloves to remove any possible surface contaminants.

I swapped to a set of philips xtremevision +130's which is what I had handy in the vehicle, but I have two sets of the non-selective yellow version of these osrams tucked away in a very safe place (that I need to find) to swap in next.

My efforts to petition for headlight color to allow yellow in addition to white will continue.

I don’t have DRL so I never had a problem with the melting thing.
