Taking emotion out of it, imagine the return you could get for the big three right now. Yes, Crosby should and will remain a Pen, but I could easily see someone like the Sharks or LA giving up a high end prospect, a ready NHL player, and two firsts for him even at this point in his career. Trade all three and you could rebuild within two years by simply flipping or making picks in a smart manner.

 

I am more than willing to trade Malkin and Letang, and Malkin has been my favorite- after Horny, but he’s gone. If the rumor is true, they aren’t going anywhere. That’s a shame and a slap to Rutherford. LeMieux is a hero here, voted the most admired Pittsburgh sports figure a few year ago, and that is saying much, given the rich history of Pittsburgh professional sports figures. But - if true- LeMieux should have let Rutherford do his job and keep out if running the team.

 

Anyone else loving watching the Alberta teams really struggle? All that "if we were in the East, we'd win the cup," bullshit is pretty clearly bullshit when TO and MTL lead the division early by that much.

 

The Kings are on the upside of a rebuild so I dont see any trades happening from them any time soon.

 

I threw the Kings in there because they hinted at looking for a new star player in the near future before Covid-19. I wouldn't be shocked if they grabbed a big name at some point during their rebuild.

 

Crosby would LOVE to play with his good buddy Mackinnon!

 

Or vice-versa.

Kapanen used his speed to push back the Ranger defense, then made an on the tape pass to P.O. Joseph, who then fed Zucker in front of the net to jam it home. Kapanen is quite the play maker. Yannick Weber is making his first start. Let's see what he's got left at 32.

 

Another nice play by the rookie, P.O. Jospeh. He skated across the offensive zone to get a clear lane, then flicked a wrist shot toward the net, which was nicely tipped by Tanev, all with 40 seconds left in the period. That's two primary assists for Joseph.

 

I always liked Kappy as a Leaf during the regular season and, when he was sheltered, he was good in the playoffs. In a top six role though when the games matter, he was a ghost offensively (except for on the occasional rush) and a huge defensive liability.

 

He's on a line with Malkin and Zucker right now. So far so, good. I haven't seen any major defensive lapses from him. Too bad I can' say that about the rest of the team. He has 2 goals and 5 points in 6 games and is a +3, including 2 goals and 2 assist in the last 3. If he can keep up at that pace, I'll take it.
