Just bought some aftermarket side mirrors with turn signals. I doubt my SR5 is pre-wired so I was thinking of taping into my rear. Like in this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-side-mirror-turn-signal.668265/

Only problem is I don’t know which is the hot and negative for the mirrors. Can someone help?

There’s a pink, purple, red and brown wire.

@caribe makaira can probably tell you were all the wires go.
    I can help with lights.

    On the OEM plug.

    Pin #4 is power - Blue/White (Right mirror/Driver) - Pink (Left mirror/Passenger)
    Pin #5 is ground - Black/White - (both sides)

Well I actually took the whole thing apart and broke it hah. Might try and return it but it was a learning process.

These are aftermarket lights. I don’t know if that makes a difference. In regards to the passenger, the pink wire is in pin 5 and the white is in pin 4.

While taking it apart I found the turn signals are wires pink and white. I assume pink would be hot and white is ground. Which is what I’m looking to tap?

If you look INTO the connector instead of its ass end, it'll match the picture I sent. (Left Hand side mirror)
P.S> Then again it's aftermarket, so the colors do not match, but the wire positions need to.

The complete wiring diagram for all 5 wires.
Pins color coded for easy identification.
Caribe does great diagrams..... as always.

Hmmm the color must be switched. The pink and white is switched. Pink is definitely in pin 5. Hope that won’t be a problem hooking it up.

The TURN signal wires are fine. The connector drawing is a view of looking INTO the connector, not from the wire side. The one on the left is coming from the mirror, the one on the right is the door harness connector.
The mirror control wire COLORS do not match the OEM ones.

Yeah it looks like the pink and white are switched. Luckily, I had a spare passenger oem side mirror and just swapped housing. Took the pink and white wires out from the turn signal and just ran with it.

Edit: I compared the oem mirror control wires to the aftermarket and they were wired exact the same. Only the pink and white were swapped.
Ps. The quality in OEM compared to these aftermarkets were a huge difference. Wouldn’t have known unless one were to open these suckers up.

I plan on tapping into the wires mentioned in that write up. It wasn’t clear, besides color, where in that cluster of wires you can find the right ones to tap. Can someone clear this up?

Picture above is the one they provided in the write up.

Can you take a pic of the wires once you remove the panel so I can point out which ones you need to tap into.

They are NOT switched. Read again. The drawing shows the wires as if you look INTO the connector, not from the wire side. Read post #11 again.
