A Master of Science (Latin: Magister Scientiae; abbreviated MS, M.S., MSc, M.Sc., SM, S.M., ScM or Sc.M.) is a master's degree in the field of science awarded by universities in many countries or a person holding such a degree.[1] In contrast to the Master of Arts degree, the Master of Science degree is typically granted for studies in sciences, engineering and medicine and is usually for programs that are more focused on scientific and mathematical subjects; however, different universities have different conventions and may also offer the degree for fields typically considered within the humanities and social sciences. While it ultimately depends upon the specific program, earning a Master of Science degree typically includes writing a thesis.

And everybody thought websters was outdated. Know try and describe that in grade school terms for those of us that are not overachievers or scholars.

First you get a bachelor of science (bs) degree. It’s a 4 year program (some people take longer but it’s supposed to be 4). After you’ve got that, you can get a masters which is typically another 2 years.

Basically these are the college degrees and how long they are supposed to take. If you take fewer credit hours or change majors (field of study) it’ll add additional time.
    Associates degree - 2 years
    Bachelors degree - 4 years
Masters degree - 6 years (4 years for BS plus 2 years for masters program)
    PhD - many years

in general more schooling -> more starting money. But you also spend more money on school and more years until you start working.

Why do I feel like you added these in specifically for when I saw your post so I couldn't complain about my BS not being an MS?

You forgot about the 4 years of general education for a high school diploma, which is not a degree lol I think most of us at least have that

I was tired of school when I graduated HS lol I looked at going to community college then transferring to university but based on how credits transferred 2 years of CC basically turned into 1 year at university. Decided to just go straight to the university and even though it cost more per year I’d need less total years. I was in and out in 4, which seems to be pretty rare these days. A lot of people I went to HS with either didn’t graduate or went for 5-6 years to get their BS

college has its benefits but it’s definitely not for everyone. Also don’t just go cuz that’s what everyone else is doing. I know quite a few people with $20k+ in student debt with no degree.. or the opposite problem, lots of student loans with a $35 job..

After years working in National Park visitor centers and teaching photography in Yosemite. I wanted to be more in the science end of things. So I finished my undergrad and worked to start a career in habitat restoration, especially, hopefully wetland restoration. With my undergrad in biology I was able to get a few seasonal jobs (in Point Reyes National Seashore in Cali and Rocky Mountain National Park). But general wisdom is that two years of grad school will do me better that two more years of entry level or seasonal field work. So grad school it was. We will see if it pays off.

Short answer is yes. It looked at converting ag fields to native grasslands to help reduce phosphorus runoff into Green Bay.

The wife and I hit many of the National Parks and a few National Memorials. I can’t imagine every day going to work inside the gates of those amazing places.
I’ve been Planing our Denali trip. I told my wife about taking the month of July off (3 weeks vacation plus holiday and weekends) and driving there. I got a maybe!!! A few years ago was a 2 week 5,304 mile trip hitting 3 National parks a few breweries, some waterfalls and a bunch of gas stations! That’s a lot of Tacoma windshield time.

A big Congrats on the new paperwork!

I’m sure you’ll be back to town to visit family. Might need to meet up for beers! Post up when you head back to Milwaukee!
